Showed a bit if fight if anything. Looked like we could go on and score again only after we scored....

What does it take for us to get a f**kin' penalty...
2-3 handballs and a blatant trip on Luis... nothing.

Not to mention Luis getting a yellow for being trod on his foot... with the ref 2 meters away from the situation.
Thought this guy was decent in previous games I've seen him. Had a proper stinker today.

And our beloved woodwork again... it just won't let up. Even Aggers header was on its way off the bar when Luis popped up
*sigh*

oh well... at least we got a point and wasn't totally robbed :P

Good to see a bit of heart in the way we played from late in the first half onwards, and we really created enough to win it comfortably.

That said though Villa are fucking awful and that was probably the easiest game in the run-in so disappointing not to have picked up 3 points.

Deserved the win but didn't get one, much like the earlier games of the season. Nice to see some determination throughout the game, but how come we always wait until the 88th minute or so until we really push for that winner?

We have to break the cycle of going behind and giving up. Almost did it today. Took the 1st step which was to fight back and get a point. Nobody would've. Begrudged us a win with that much effort. Much better that the last couple of games. Jus gutted we didn't get the winner.
Has Steven Gerrard scored a goal even more important than the one he got against Olympiakos - Is this the start of something BIG?

Henderson and Shelvey were brilliant in midfield.

Maybe in the 2nd half. Did you watch the first half? We were god-awful, created nothing, and I think that stemmed from these guys not taking control of the match. They're young guys so fair enough, but I think it's an overstatement to say they were brilliant (at least not for the whole match).

This Villa side are poor. A draw changes nothing, and I'll stick my neck out and say this, but it's a potential stay of execution. Had we lost here, then the pressure on Kenny would have been immense for the fact that it would have been the worst string of defeats in recent memory and nothing else.

Carroll and Bellamy coming on changed the game. Kuyt will be disappointed with those misses.

Not bein funny mate but Joey fuckin Deacon would have been disappointed with those misses.

We were back to how we were for most of the season at home. Battering the opposition, hitting the woodwork 4 times, great chances wasted. It wasnt great but we shouldve won that by a few. It's an improvement on recent weeks so atleast thats something. Still I thought the wrong players were subbed and tactically we were poor again, the gaps between the lines were huge 1st half and we had very little movement. The treatment of Suarez today by the ref was a joke aswell. But hey we didnt lose!

Missed the first half.

Second half was fairly good. Some good pressure and work to create space as well as organised pressing, though with a few errors. Made some mistakes in possession at the back which allowed Villa to pressure the team further back but Doni was calm with the ball at his feet. The subs made a difference in attack and gave the team a good threat and we deserved the equaliser because of the pressure we put on later in the game.

It's not a win but it was a good improvement on last week's performance and a draw is a solid result, though obviously not the win that we'd hoped for.

More than any recent match, I thought we'd go out and win this one pretty handily by a few goals - Villa being one of the poorest away teams in the league - but we came out with very little fight or urgency. Only started to play when we were behind, no shape, cohesion or even basic identity.

Continuation, really.

Hope Agger plays in the cup semi, once again showed the difference in just few minutes.
Gerrard whipping beutiful crosses, Carroll once again lacked confidence and agility.
Still much better then last few months, should play everygame like that last 15min.
The greater danger for most of us lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low, and achieving our mark.

Agger coming on made such a difference. Enrique is knackered. That's the only explanation for his terrible form.

Still for the life of me cannot comprehend why Coates isn't being blooded and we continue to persist with the past it Carra. What do we have to lose, seriously?

On a positive, if we play like we did in the last 15 minutes against the blueshite, we'll win.

We should have won it at the end, still feel we didn't start playing urgently till the last quarter hour of the game which isn't something that pleased me too well as I think it took us a lot of time to react properly to being 1-0 down.

At least a draw is better than a lose.

BTW, I'm still struggling to see what is our game plan whenever we play.

really?

today it was clear cut.

press high.

hendo and jonjo gave the base, downing the width.it was the best formation and players we could have played with bar carra

I don't think he was.

Kuyt had good first half, bad second half.

Gerrard didn't play his best but he still set up Kuyt for that missed sitter, did the cross for Suarez to hit the post and the cross for our goal.

He was. Constantly beaten to the ball and his distribution was fucking shocking.

Kenny had it wrong today again, playing Downing in front of his former club like he did Carroll last week.

Kenny needs to be showing a signal of intent, you can't call it a work in progress if you have Kuyt, Carra and Gerrard all starting, a work in progress is supposed to involve integrating the young players, Carroll, Shelvey, Kelly, Flanagan, Sterling, Henderson and Spearing need to get as much game time as possible. We can attain nothing from the league this year, whats that's the worst that can happen from playing these players, we lose? Oh wait...
