Be interesting to see if he can keep it going if/when defences learn how to play him. Ba's statistics look good but he hasn't scored in the last 8, the exact same can happen to him. Would like to see this thread in a year's time.

Ba hasn't scored since Cisse joined, to be fair Ba has been shifted out wide to accommodate.

To be fair, it's not like Newcastle unearthed some hidden gem. There were loads of fans on here in the transfer forum saying he'd be a great buy for us ... then BAM he was signed up to Newcastle.

Judging by the RAWK laws of football signings based upon a teams transfer funds and previous seasons end league position papiss cissé is a complete myth and does not exist. All goals scored by this myth were actually scored by another newcastle player and the myth was never signed by them

I said on here weeks ago 9 million for Cisse was one of the best bits of business that's been done for a long time. Incredibly astute transfer. He's boss. Newcastle are privileged to have such a front pairing.

Hes been a good signing because he fits perfectly in their high flying team which is buzzing with confidence. Theres no guarantee he'd be banging in the goals if we had signed him, in fact quite the opposite and RAWK would be going ape shit at another shitty Comolli signing.

Its just the old cliche, some players click at certain clubs and others don't. Carroll was good at Newcastle, but is shit with us.

All goes down to team dynamics and coaching.

No value in January.....
I haven't commented negatively against the way the club has been run but that comment drives me mad and did so at the time.  To me, anyone coming out with this at the club sounds like someone who's not interested in improving the club at every given opportunity.

I'm amazed more clubs weren't after him. 22 goals last season, second only to Super Mario and he did it with Freiburg! Quality player and a real shrewd signing for them.

Top drawer player, I knew nothing about him before he signed for Newcastle, now he is banging them in against teams like us ( ok his first goal came off the post and went in and his second was offside but nevertheless the man moves like mercurial silk) and Swansea, well done Newcastle another signing has paid off for you.

I wish we could have signed all those players Newcastle did cos then we might be going for fifth place and not actually won anything, but of course winning things is shit now.

His first goal against Villa was a sliced effort right into the top corner, and for me he's been riding a confidence wave ever since. Class finish for the second today though.

Either way, the money paid for him matched against the results he's given are very decent. Also those numbers highlight that Bellamy has been one of our best signings this year and he was free.

Why do all the people that complain about us buying Adam/Downing etc because they had a good season then complain about us not buying Ba or Cisse after a good half season? This guy will cool down and be good, but not great. Or maybe fall into the Amr Zaki level and simply become irrelevant weeks after being linked with everyone and their dog.

Adam had a half of a good season with Blackpool and then when the eyes were on him in the second half of the season failed miserably. Downing shone in a mediocre Aston Villa team which is his level.

Ba has a 1 goal every 2 games in Germany and then after that in West Ham, Cisse was banging them in France & Germany before coming. It isn't like they all of a sudden became goal scorers, this is something they have been doing all their careers.

I think the complaints are because they've (Ba and Cisse) had at least a few seasons of success performance wise before moving and have continued that on at Newcastle whereas we signed players who only really had 1 or half a season of success. Ba and Cisse have just carried on at similar levels of success. Our signings haven't carried on their form.

Of course you could be right and they could turn into Zaki's. Alternatively they could just carry on at the level they've displayed for a number of seasons now (albeit in other leagues mainly).

Why are people talking as if he has been picked from the depths of a foreign nation, in a poor league? 65 league games for Freidburg and 37 goals, clear second to Gomez last season in top scorer in Germany and no doubt would have been up there again this season. In the Bundesliga, a league which in my opinion is pretty much similar to the Premier league in terms of quality, not far behind anyway. And that was playing in a poor Freidburg team (the team was built around him, but stil impressive). 11 in 17 for Senegal aswell. No idea why people are suprised.

Brilliant player, knows where the net is.
Simply put,if you search hard, there are gems from lower teams in Europe for knockdown prices. And Pardew has found every one of them.Ba,Cisse,Cabaye,Ben Arfa,Santon(loan)..
The ideal club philosophy.

Cisse is going to be one of the 3 top scorers next season, before some big club pays big money for him.

Adam had a half of a good season with Blackpool and then when the eyes were on him in the second half of the season failed miserably.

That's fine revisionism.

Adam had a good second half to the season. He had a ropey end to January/start to February in 2010. People tried to make out he fell away because that's the script that all these lads are meant to stick to. Great for six months then 'find their level'. It applies to players and clubs.

Didn't happen with Adam though. He was missing for a few weeks (suspension) came back and scored a brace against Blackburn, and if you look at their last month of the season he was like a man possessed trying to keep them up. Man of the Match in the Bolton game, very good against Spurs at home, best player on the pitch away to Spurs (despite the missed penalty and the furore over his tackle which took away from the fact that he was very good that day), scored and was their best and most dangerous player against United in the last game of the season.

Adam didn't just have 6 good months. Adam had a good season in general, with a couple of poor months in there in January after he was denied the move he wanted.

"Not actually that good"? We could do with a striker thats "not actually that good" right now. In 8 games in his debut season in a foreign country, he's out scored all of our strikers comfortably. 37 from 65 in the Bundesliga and 11 from 17 at national level isn't half bad either. Fantastic capture for the Toon. They must be chuffed with their net spend figures.

Exactly. But no we would rather have players with PL experience.

Don't worry though. I'm sure Comolli will pick him up next season for 25-30m.
