Correct. Other than Cisse, I'm not sure I'd take any Newcastle players here.

Cabaye? ben arfa? They're both better than what we have in our team.

Also, how was wrestlemania?  ;D

Good plan. Let's give them dogs abuse, boo them, shout at them, throw things at them and tell everyone and his wife on the Intenet how fucking shite they all are and how we should sell everyone, sack the manager, get rid of the owners, start again.

That's bound to improve them no end.

To be honest, that sounds exactly like what happened to us around January last season. Then look at how we responded when Kenny was given the job.

All I'm saying is that you can't just blindly support, because then you're just ignorant to what is actually going on. Our transfer policy is fucking shit. I'm not going to get behind mediocre players that aren't up to the standard of pulling on the red shirt. You could criticize me if I was the only person saying this, but this is a widely held view among the supporters. We have to do better with our transfers. Its simply unacceptable.

I'll be behind Kenny until the day that he decides to leave. Our style of play is there, we just need the players for it.

If we had got those players and they performed as well as they did I'm sure no sane person would have been complaining.

I think that's pretty obvious, but you can guarantee that they'd all have been slagged before kicking a ball for us.  Something that some of our supporters love doing.

Ben arfa has the potential to be one of the best players in the world. Man utd looked at him as a possible replacement for ronaldo when he was in france.

None of our summer signign were slagged before playing for us

Go to early Downing, Adam, Henderson, etc threads...even people who were opposed to signings, sang their praises and said how excited they are to see them in action.

I think that's the key word there. There will always be some idiots in any club who will slag off players without actually giving them even a bit of time to prove themselves. But that doesn't hide the fact that some of our transfer have been quite atrocious esp when compared to the somewhat 'hidden gems' that Newcastle have been able to unearth this season.

I might be wrong but I think that entire Newcastle team cost less than what we paid them for Carroll.

Newcastle are a club we should take example of. The way they have gone about things after they fell in the shit is magnificent. Though they got lucky winning the lottery with us buying Carroll.

Ben arfa has the potential to be one of the best players in the world. Man utd looked at him as a possible replacement for ronaldo when he was in france.

Thats the thing, mate.

He has potential but along with potential comes a bad temperament. United were interested in signing him but ultimately went for Obertan. Not saying Obertan is better but you should get gist. He had issues when he was at Lyon and then Marseille due to which both the clubs wanted to get rid of him. Speaking of his ability alone, He is a good player but kind of blows hot and cold. Sometimes he performs really well while sometimes he is poor. I know Downing hasn't done that well but I think he is a better player than Ben Arfa. Issue is we paid around £18 Million for Downing while they paid around £8 Million for Ben Arfa.

Not like we're competing in the same league really though.. They try to get cheap, quality players while our strategy is to pay over the odds for average so-called Premier League-proven players so that we miss out on Ba, Cisse, Ben Arfa and Cabaye and buy Downing instead for the same money.

Swansea were very average today. They don't really look that good, and it wouldn't surprise me if they did a Hull and went back down next season.

Having said that, I still think they would have beaten us today.

Fixed that for you. No doubt if we had gone in to buy some of Newcastle's signings (which actually would have been a good initial step in itself) we would have spunked an extra 5-10m just due to how incompetent we are at negotiating fees with other clubs and paying over the odds for players.

If we had gone for those players people would have been moaning like fuck, "What are our owners playing at buying players from the bargain basement" "We are a big club and should be buying £20 to £30 million players"

And we all know that would have happened.

For all we know, Comolli could have put the names of these players forward, but Kenny must have final say on players purchased, but went for different ones.  Not saying this did happen, but we just don't know.
Were Adam, Henderson, Downing & Carroll big players or we spent big money on them so for most fans they assumed they were big?

We were happy that we were spending money for the first time in ages, few only moaned in the summer when we were signing those players as most trusted the judgment of Kenny & Comolli which fast forward 10 months later is proved very wrong.

For all I know, if we signed Newcastle's players, most people would have said the same as far as I know.

It depends.  I know what you're saying but at the same time - all hell *could* break loose for whoever of Arsenal/Tottenham/Chelsea don't finish top 4.

I mean if Newcastle steals a place from Arsenal it could mean RVP walks - in the long run that's best for us.

Same goes if they steal a place from Tottenham - Bale, VDV, Modric might all walk

now of course those clubs could end up buying well in the transfer market and do alright but they might also make mistakes.

Arsenal missing and losing RVP could really do some damage to them imo.

And he also wouldn't be alone currently at Liverpool having off the field issues. To put Downing on the same level as Ben Arfa is pretty mad.

We are a funny lot. Aren't we?

We used to moan earlier about not paying few extra millions of pounds to get a player we wanted. Now when we are doing that, it seems to be an issue as well. If a big club is interested, the price of the player will automatically go higher.

Clever from Pardew, no mention of 2 points off 4th, rather keep going for 5th or 6th place. Keep the pressure off
