Happy Smiley Joy Joy
« on: April 5, 2012, 12:13:43 PM »
Seen a few negative things getting bandied about and posted and re-posted on quite a few network sites (Forums/Twitter/Facebook etc.) about the 'Hatred' and problems that are going to come from the Merseyside Semi-Final. Found out today that the fans are getting seperated and each are getting their own alotted pubs. I've heard that there is going to be fighting and people at each others throats and I've seen a few banners from the other side that are, let's face it, embarrasing disgraceful and shocking - revelling in people dying to prove a point - those people should hang their heads in shame. To use the deaths of others as a cheap point scoring excercise is simply shite. No other way of putting it. I've heard disappointing stuff in town (Some that I posted) and I've seen an undercurrent of not very nice stuff going on from time to time.

However, there are plenty of 'feel good' and positive factors about this coming game. A chance to show the World that it's still a friendly derby - yes, we've had the odd grumblings and we've had people from both sides that are gimps - but under it all, there's not really been that much going on.

We still live in the same houses as bluenoses, we still have family, friends, workmates, wives, husbands, sons and daughters that are blues. We can enjoy a laugh and a pint and a smile and a story. We can shake hands and go out together and banter and revel in the history of the clubs and the City.

Don't let the moaning minnies and negative bastards ruin the day for everyone. If I see Reds out of order then I'll pull them up over it. I'm sure there are plenty of decent blues that will do the same for their fans.

So let's all make sure everyone has a great day, let's make sure the banter is there and for one day we can all be friends and remember our common roots and love of OUR City.

May the best team win and may Liverpool as a City win.

Football has reached the ninth gate of farce and pathetic, unbelievable trite nonsense. It's supposed to be a game and it's turned into pantomime, hype, quilts and bellends.

I think it's going to be a very emotional semi final, for both sets of fans.

Well said Andy, I remember the 1984 league cup final when both sets of players did a lap together while the fans sang merseyside. Indeed 3 days later I stood in the Everton section of the Kippax as we won the replay, not one bad word was said, I was even lifted on to the wall to see souness lift the cup by a blue. A few months later I stood in the Everton end at Wembley as they beat us in the charity shield. (it's shite having a blue dad!),again not a bad word said, just lots of scousers having a laugh at the match!
I for one would welcome back the old days with open arms, don't forget scouse incorporates the whole city not just our club......................just wish they'd stop being so fucking bitter!!!!!!

I am ticketless, but I expect I will be in a pub surrounded by Reds and Blues giving and getting good banter. Anything untoward I expect to be stopped at birth.

Bring back the friendly derbies.

Unfortunately, how can we expect people to respect their rivals when they dont even respect their own team. I may be onto a non-starter with that dream.

Still, Scousers taking over London again, brilliant.

Merseyside, Merseyside, Merseyside..............

Actually all is not lost.

There may be Whoppers on both sides, but there are many who want a return to the old ways.

Z Cars at Anfield was one of my proudest moments as a red. That we could put footballing matters to one side and come together for a family who had lost someone was great and very emotional.

And I know some blues carried a JUSTICE banner to Wembley when they reached the final a couple of years ago.

So there is hope yet. From little acorns and all that.

This city can achieve anything when we have a united front (lower case 'u', obviously ;))

A lot of sensible stuff has been said here, couldn't agree more.

If some bluenoses act like pricks, then we should take the higher ground... you actually do more damage to them as a club by NOT retaliating. Stay classy.

One of my proudest moments full stop. I brought a couple of lads from work (non-reds) up to that game and they were really touched by it. I'm not ashamed to say I had a tear in my eye.

It's about attitude.

Attitude 1: I would be decent... But... They'll be a bunch of c*nts so I'll get my abuse in early.

Or

Attitude 2: there'll be a bunch of c*nts who'll do the whole 'merderers' shite and 'ifitadnabinfer' bollocks... But... It's the day before the 23rd anniversary and most blues are actually normal decent people so fuck it.

Wholeheartedly agree with the OP and would love to show the rest of football how it's done.

Yes, football rivalry and bitterness gone too far. But then it's society's problem, not really Everton's. I just hope the majority have the sense not to join in with the bad chants.

I was thinking about heading out to watch this with my mates but i dunno. I think its good for the city ( im a wool ) and highlights two good teams from the same city. Just dont think i could take the abuse from the bitters again. They dont hold back.

I think we only need to look at how Utd and City handled the Anniversary of the Munich Disaster a few yrs back to see that somethings are bigger than Football and that MOST fans are just decent, match going, lads and ladettes who will look forward to a Great Day out supporting their team, rather than hating the opposition.

86 cup final was just so good for the banter before and after the match,I will never ever forget that day!

Sharing a laugh and a beer,or 2 with reds and blues utter class!
