A call for calm tonight
« on: March 24, 2012, 05:03:50 PM »
People are going to get themselves banned. Wums are going to emerge from their hives.

A very disappointing result again. It looks like our league form has imploded. It now looks like our team is only half built and the management staff are
not getting the results they want.

It is time to take stock, as we should remember years of decline cannot be erased in two transfer windows. That said it looks very very poor at the moment. My theory is that the one area our club can never take chances on is central midfield. Not so long ago we were really strong there, with two of the best players in European football controlling games and Steven Gerrard marauding ahead of them. A few short years pass.

I think we have to accept it will be very difficult for Kenny to say the right thing this evening. We were poor, are poor based on league form and his signings have to be in question now. But he knows his business and should be allowed to correct the mistakes this summer.

Stop making excuses for Kenny. He cannot motivate the players he has signed and he needs to go.

That's the kind of thinking you get at other clubs. I'm not making any excuses, our league form is terrible and something is wrong for sure. Based on the idea we were supposed to be improving from 7th spot.

Roy didn't win a trophy three weeks ago.

To be fair that was blatant handball for the second and correctly ruled out in my opinion

OP is right.

Liverpool lost to Wigan. And Wigan have been brillant this season.

There is simply no reason for anyone who supports Liverpool to be upset with what's gone on for the last 90 minutes.

Two things: none of our current problems have an instant fix. We are in a rut at the moment and bar the odd cameo from the likes of Sterling we don't have a huge amount of options, just a case of juggling what we have.

Second - don't be twats about it all. Everyone's annoyed and frustrated. Some of us what different things but don't all act like spoilt kids. Take a breather and don't bother arguing on here when emotions are high unless you just want every thread locked. One day the powers that be may decide this place is more trouble than it is worth and lock it all and then you'll have a bunch of angry nerds looking to hunt you down. Especially Mouth and he looks like Dog The Bounty Hunter.

motivate for what? thatīs about the maximum they can do for us iīm affraid..

problem is not the motivation to perform, the problem is they give up after each time we score or someone scores against us...

we donīt have any drive what so ever..

Because Kenny is a true red and we trust him and are willing to give him time, like almost all of our managers.  Roy was not a red, never would have been a red and we didn't trust him.

People calling for Kenny's head should be banned.  It's been bad but it's one season.  If we sack managers after one poor season, we are never going to build anything.  Who do you want - Mourinho?  Do you honestly think he'd trade Real Madrid for us.

Agree nothing should be changed until the summer.  Think it's the extent of that change that will split the fans almost 50-50 now.

The disallowed goal was a clear handball.

Wigan's second was due to the defense doing nothing.

Yeah, you are being sarcastic but actually that is not what I said. We should be upset about tonight, and QPR and Sunderland etc but we should wait before calling for anyone's head. One poor season, albeit with at least one trophy, should not mean people moving or losing their management jobs.

That's the kind of thinking you get at other clubs. I'm not making any excuses, our league form is terrible and something is wrong for sure. Based on the idea we were supposed to be improving from 7th spot.

You spend Ģ100m in the summer to challenge for 4th and get absolutely nowhere near... we've gone a few steps backwards even since the end of last season. We were playing good football when Kenny came in, but since the summer it's been a steady decline.

I have to admit, I am starting to wonder if, in terms of football, the grass is greener on this side. I can't make a compelling case to say that it is to be honest.

Massive mistakes were made in the summer, fair enough. But there's been nothing in the season to suggest that they're recoverable ones. The players have been playing worse as the season's progressed, and the management/coaching team doesn't seem to have driven any positive change either.

Of course, we've won a trophy, which is nice- but it's not really big enough to erase the massive steps back we've taken in the league.

It's been a very sobering month of football when it comes to the league...

The players were absolutely pathetic, and showed no fight or heart at all.

trying to be balanced. Bad at politics. I'm just saying the kneejerk response is obvious. Truth is, it always be hard to defend anyone against back to back defeats to QPR and Wigan. Owners will be perplexed.

They looked motivated after the break so that must have come from Kenny. Shame it didn't last. Very odd indeed.

Calm from us maybe. But something radical has to be done by the club. I'm not talking about the manager or players or owners or a specific entity. We are just not that good enough and neither are our expectations helping.

People are entitled to ask whether he should be replaced in the summer.

No one knows and loves this club more than Kenny and he will always be a hero to us all.

Bt it's also possible to know this and feel he's not the right man for the job.

He spent ten years out of the game at the highest level when his rivals were either still in the game or learning the very best that coaching has to offer.

As much as he was and is a superman to us, unfortunately he is light years behind the techniques and strategies needed to compete at the very top level of this sport in 2012.

We can still love him and have him in our hearts forever whilst acknowledging this fact.

King Kenny will allways be King Kenny, however he is out of touch and the sooner he calls for help the better.

Yes he won the Carling cup , but that was a struggle. we where not playing Southampton even, it was Cardiff and we only just won it after extra time and pens.

His signings are one thing , however he cannot change the game.

I really hope he calls it a day.

He should give Rafa a call and get some help.

Ģ35million and you keep him on the bench.

Rafa with decent owners would be awersome.

I don't think anyone expected instant success but perhaps some form of improvement or signs we are heading in the right direction. Hand on heart can you agree we have got the best out of the players available, many have gone backward never mind shown signs of growing. That is my concern, I can accept 8th, 9th, 10th spot but only if the signs of improvement are there.

The thing is, where do we go from here?

Kuyt and Maxi look like they're on their way this Summer. Carra is on his last legs. Gerrard can't play every game like before.Neither can Bellamy.

Carroll, Henderson and Downing are 3 of the worst transfers in the history of LFC. We'll be lucky to get half our money back on all 3.

How do we proceed this Summer? How many players do we need? How much money can we raise? Can Kenny bite the bullet on his duds?

There really is no excuses, no bad luck, no referee errors to defend that performance. The 2nd goal was a hand ball by Suarez, clear as day.

The Carling Cup win was great, but in the grand scheme of things, it's not massive. It's not making up for the fact that in the league, things are nowhere near where they need to be and have started going backwards.
