Massive over reaction on here tonight. We played well for large chunks of that game but cocked it up in the last 15. Shit happens.

I thought we were incredible for about 20 mins, and quite for another 20. So-so for about 30-35 mins and awful for 15-20.
not really...next season he [Lucas Leiva] wont be here or he'll be here as bench warmer...mark my words

Serious talking too those players need.

The thing is mate they should have already had that talk a few times this season; Norwich (h), Bolton (a), Sunderland (a).

If they are still not responding in the proper manner then IMO it is either a case of being simply unable to meet the required standards due to their limited ability or the manger and his staff are not doing their job properly.

I think the 3rd alternative is far too unpleasant to think about i.e. they are good enough but have no respect for Kenny. I don't believe that btw.

I would love to know what Henry and Werner think about the team - you get the feeling they don't perhaps realise how bad we are compared to just 2 or 3 years ago.

How the hell have we managed to go from a club that nearly won the title and regularly whacked the biggest european clubs.... to this?

Ok I know we've had our problems but 7th place and no chance of 4th is just not good enough - 4th place is a pathetic target and yet its made out to be the holy grail.

I'm with andy, I'm not all that bothered. the only important game left of our season is the fa cup semi final.
european football is secured, 4th place went WEEKS ago. so 5th or 15th I'm not bothered.

You and anyone who thinks the same as you are a fucking disgrace to this club.

Think the only thing that let Kenny down is his buys. He made a completes ball up with buying British, especially them being less than average and paying so much.

Andy for £35 mill, downing for £20 mill, Adam for £7 mill, hendo £13 mill. All have proved a complete waste of money. Even hendo who people talk about potential, £13 million on potential is a waste when we're rebuilding.

If that £75 mill was spent on quality instead of geography then the style Kenny demands would of produced the results.  We're now stuck with a below average midfield and a striker who looks better defending in our box.

I can't disagree with this. Simply don't rate Kenny's buys.
In Holland, they don't say they are developing players - they say they are developing future coaches.

With 15 minutes to go you just put a 0-2 lead at QPR professionally to an end, 3 points in the pocket.

But we are not more than a mid table team because with our home record and so many easily lost points against lower half/bottom of the league teams you do not deserve more. We are MILES away of a 4th spot when you look to mentality, professionalism, consistancy, etc.
Let's not forget we did not even play European football this season, Arsenal having a B team compared with last seasons, Chelsea having huge problems, and we have paid 100 mln for new players...

League Cup win and a mid table ranking at the end would be really hilariously dissapointing. Only FA Cup win can save this season.

Great post.

Any team hoping to get a fourth place finish in the toughest league in the world needs to show the right mentality, professionalism and consistency. We have't shown enough of these all season to get anywhere near fourth. And tonight was our league season in a nutshell.

There's no intelligence in our play either. People bang on and on about the number of chances we create and how we play lovely stuff but i personally do not see it. We create chances but they're not great scoring chances like one on ones or tap ins that should be scored after great moves.
Lovely stuff for me is potent and has goals on the end of it. I'd happily soak up pressure for the majority of a game and then lacerate the opposition with the more purposeful attacking rather than paint pretty pictures around the pitch but have no killer instinct.
There's no real intelligence in our overall approach. We've got some quality and that is enough to win us a few games but we don't play like a clever team. More just reliant on the strength of a few decent players.

[Hopefully Kenny can see this and buy to strengthen in the summer and push on next yr.

i dread the thought of giving kenny another 50 million to spend, we will probably buy kyle lafferty  from rangers for 40 million to assist carroll because he is a proven international

Seriously fuck off mate it's not funny anymore and it's also massively disrespectful to our manager.
If you'd told me in August 2012 that Benitez wins the Europa league, Moyes takes the reins at Man United, Wigan win the FA Cup and Jose wins fuck all, I'd have laughed you out the bar. :lmao

Just get players in with a bit of fight, character and a desire to win for starters.

i.e. not average mid table players from average mid table clubs whose stats are good and are "prem proven".

In 20 years time when we have a poor season and finish sixth, Hicks and Gilette will still be to blame. We were in a bad place 18 months ago, but that is not relevant now. Stop making excuses.

In a way, I share those thoughts. Naturally, we need to fight for every ball and do our best. But we have been average all season. Never looked to be a threat for the top four positions. We have secured European football and to be honest, if we finish 5th, 6th or 7th doesn't matter much to me.

I see the remaining league games as a period for us to get answers. Who should stay? Who should go? Can we establish a style of play that suits us? Those kinds of things are what matters the most now. It's to put us in the best possible shape for next season. We have 9 more games to get those answers.

We'll be lucky to finish top 10 with the form we're in.

Complete nonsense Kenny. Losing after being 2 up with 15 minutes to go has nothing to do with luck, and all positives are wiped out by that huge negative. I presume/hope he's not talking like that in the dressing room or we are in huge trouble.

Deffo NOT progression.... BUT... Give me a trophy ahead of 4th any day. If we bag the FA Cup its a successful Season. League is well gone, 4th ended ages ago... So blow the League...

Big if on the FA cup though and i would take 4th over Carling cup any day because we need 2 or 3 quailty players and finishing mid table will mean signing the same level of
players as last summer...OVER PRICE BRITISH PLAYERS!!!!!

I think this is the most depressed I've been all season.
Fuck this pathetic shite.
Absolutely embarrassing, We've gone backwards this year the cup runs just hide that fact.
Its been more embarrassing in other games this season watching us bereft of a performance, unable to string 3 passes together. We battered them tonight but after 30 mins I said to my lad how many times have I told you football is a game of two halves, watch these c*nts come out in the second half. But they didn't - we did, we went 1-0 up then we did what most people demand, we went 2-0 up and finished them off.
....until we lost complete comprehension of what defending is supposed to be.

I'm gutted for Kenny, not depressed about the performance at all.

Shameful stuff from the players, unfair that paying fans have to watch people who earn more in a week than they do in a year slack off and ruin games like that. You'd expect better defender from Sunday league players.

Regardless it was a very good first 75 minutes, some scintillating stuff and very entertaining bar the plethora of missed chances. Move on and get ready for the next game.

This club has always been about the manager.

Whilst I don't think getting rid of Kenny and bringing Rafa in is the way to go for a number of reasons, you can't reason with some people when it comes to Rafa - they just don't have a good thing to say about him.
"My coach told me to warm up just before the break. He told me I was going to take care of Kaka. I didn't think it was possible to turn things around but in the dressing room at halftime Rafa Benitez was calm - "We are Liverpool FC, we have so many fans, we are not going to be slaughtered. If we can score a goal quickly we push on from there.""

Reina = I don't remember the last time he's made a huge save, but he's not helped by that shite defense tonight.
Kelly = he'll be great for the club, shame he went off.
Carragher = done
Skrtel = rare bad ending to the game, solid most of the season
Jose Enrique = shite tonight, but been decent most of the season so forgivable
Kuyt = at the right place at the right time again, good old dirk. but we need someone effective for 93 minutes I'm sad to say
Spearing = Really tries hard and does a lot of decent chasing but he's no Masch lets be honest
Adam = bye bye, please.
Downing = bye bye, please
Gerrard = still quite good but has declined due to injury
Suarez. = bloody good, but because we've got fuck all else in the team, tries too hard

Subs:
Doni, = never plays
Aurelio, = never plays
Carroll, = we don't play him when we should and bring him on when we shouldn't
Henderson, = plays well in the middle in an open attacking game
Coates, = should be a decent player, still raw though
Shelvey = why the fuck aren't we playing him, the only 100% confident player we have
Flanagan. = young and an ok backup

I'm glad the teams so strong...
I remember I was in bed with Paul Bearer making proper passionate love to him, and then all of a sudden he was tossing me off. I woke up at around 3am thinking "what the fuck was that?" Only to find my left hand covered in you know what
