Done.
Really have a lot of problems with the films. Mainly to do with the adaptation, not in terms of what was taken away, although some stuff they should have left in, not to mention the way characters were fundementally rewritten was atrocious, but what was added is the main issue for me. Cutting stuff that works in a book but wouldnt on film is expected and is like trimming fat, but it doesnt work when you take out all the Maggot/Bombadil/Dunedan stuff and shoehorn in feminist bullshit empowerment crap in the shape of Arwen. That I suspect was down to studio interference as much as Jackson being nothing more than a two bit shlock horror director who got lucky. I'd go so far as to say that Jacksons version is LOTR in name only, it lacks the beauty and subtly and emotional nuances of Tolkiens writing, the changes made to both characters and story fundementally change it from the book as to make it unrecognisable as the same work outside of names and situations, its not merely a question of taste or a result of needed choices made for adaptation, its a hack job. Never should of been nominated for any Oscars either, let alone win any, only reason it did was because of the money made.
Really fear seeing how he has fucked the Hobbit up.
