What I don't hear is that he controlled the game, went pass a player, got stuck in, got a good cross in, showed he wanted it more than the opposition, had a great shot.

To be fair you could only say one of those things (got a good cross in) about Stevie today. And actually Henderson did get stuck in a few times - one in particular really stood out toward the end of the match. I don't remember who it was, but the ball was with a Villa player in their third of the pitch and Henderson basically stood him off of it and got us back on the attack. Not saying that it's something he does very often, but the fact that he did it a few times today is a good sign of improvement.
You know what, I'm writing this here now and I'm going to put it in my signature and leave it there for the next 5 years, no matter how embarrassing it might or might not turn out to be: Jordan Henderson is going to be a fantastic player.

Don't see how people don't rate him. But it's to one's opinion. His work rate is fantastic and so is his commitment. And he put in some great performance today. Justified. He just needs a pat on the back everytime. He's the type of kid in school who doesn't even retaliate when he gets bullied by the school bully. Just weak mentally.
Rafa always stressed on mentality. Turns out it's more than quite true.

Actually, he's retaliated a few times this season (Lukaku's challenge in the League Cup stands out. One of the Man City games as well IIRC). There's definitely something to be said about him perhaps needing to gain confidence in terms of how he plays but I hope that'll come. It should do anyway.
"My coach told me to warm up just before the break. He told me I was going to take care of Kaka. I didn't think it was possible to turn things around but in the dressing room at halftime Rafa Benitez was calm - "We are Liverpool FC, we have so many fans, we are not going to be slaughtered. If we can score a goal quickly we push on from there.""

I thought he had a good game. Made a noticeable difference to the passing of the team.

When he hit that beauty of a diagonal to the right wing I thought to myself "Sadly, this is the kind of thing he needs to do all the time for the bellends to actually notice what it is he's doing" ;D
We'll be selling Henderson within 3 years and not for a profit, I guarantee it. Bookmark this post, I won't be eating my words.

Bollocking the kids to get out the way of the tv, is was him that pulled of that clinical slide tackle at the end then got up with the ball and got us going again wasn't it?

What he needs is the confidence and game time to gain the experience. He's not in a dissimilar place to where Lucas was a couple of years back in my opinion.

Ijust hope the lad is as strong as Lucas is in terms of mentality and uses the game time he's getting to good effect.

I'd give him 60munutes against Blackburn to prove hes got the physicality needed against Everton! I think he definitely deserves to keep his place for Blackburn! Just 3 90mins in a week maybe too mug for him which is why I suggested 60minutes against Blackburn!

Played another solid game. There are times when he shows himself, like that sliding tackle towards the end. He has done it before. But really, does he offer so much more than Shelvey or Spearing?

Don't get the love for Jonjo while hating on Hendo. Both have heaps of potential and today Hendo was clearly the better player. I hate it when our fans only see the offensive aspect of the game. Hendo kept us ticking nicely, he won challenges, tracked back and tried a shot near the end. It was a horrible shot, but no worse than Gerrard, but Hendo gets stick for it.

Very pleased with his performance today.

I am on record predicting that he won't be a super-star for us but I think he had, overall, a very good game for us, despite the ill-timed and poorly-executed shot (so what, SG had a couple of those, as well) and a bit of timidity on the defensive end in the first half.

I thought he and Jonjo played remarkably well in what became a 442 with Downing and Gerrard on the 'wings' in the beginning of the 2nd half. I thought we gained nothing by having him and Gerrard paired up in CM after Jonjo was inexplicably substituted for.

He has some 'mental lapses' every now and then which, for a young player with quite a bit of talent, he should work on reducing to an absolute minimum. Like everyone else, he will make mistakes but not being 'in the game' is near inexcusable, given how much actual Premiere League experience he has.

His passing was excellent, both short and longer-distance. Like Lucas's his longer-distance shooting is "over-thought" and "over-finessed". Both of them need a bit of Jonjo in them, while the latter needs quite a bit of the Lucas and Hendo yeoman-like application and methodical character.

I think he would, yeah.. In fact I feel quite mean having said Baros wasn't good enough for us, he at least did a job while he was here. And I didn't mean Henderson wasn't good enough for us either, as I think with the right guidance he'll be a tidy player - eradicate the lapses of concentration and the timidity, work on shooting, sorted. Some of his through balls are immense. Sometimes he looks bad as our players don't make the right runs and the ball goes to where someone should obviously be, but he gets the stick for it.

For some, he can do no wrong. They will bring some random stats to show his awesomeness. But the real question is is it enough? The answer is No. Maybe it is because of the team but that does not mean that suddenly an average individual performances gets praised all round.

Rafa always stressed on mentality. Turns out it's more than quite true.

I disagree about poor mentality, I think he actually has a great one but lacks confidence just like everyone in the team. He stood up to 'bullies' - one example when he was fauled by Cabay he was asking everyone 'who was it'. This is his first season at higher level and he is only young.

Dont you just love stats, does not change the stat that the lad is NOT good enough for this club.

Just hope it wasn't false hope ala Downing Carling Cup final or Carroll V Wolves. I don't mean to put a downer on the lad's performance which I thought today showed signs of great quality. He needs more games in the centre of the park before we truly know, Adam's injury may mean he gets played there for the rest of the run in. We haven't really got much to play for in the league so it will be a time to bed him into what is supposedly his preferred position.

His passing and determination today seemed to be well and was MOTM in my opinion. I haven't really rated him along with many of you so far, I just hope this is something for him to build on rather than his peak performance.

That's very very very harsh.....

Of all the players that cam win the summer' he's the one that I understand the rationale behind his purchase, I can really see him becoming a top player (he might not, but I think he has the talent to do so)
