Captaincy who cares and does it really matter. Gerrard shouldn't even accept the captaincy if it's given to him. I don't understand why anyone would want to be in the centre of the fallout when the inevitable happens at the Euros. Pearce should be given the job full-time he's the right man to lead England.

They've been like that for a while haven't they? Their strength has been their forward players like those 3 and other like Afellay, Huntelaar, Van Der Vaart. Obviously not all of them in the class of the ones starting today but still good footballers.

Yup. I think it's debatable who the last great Dutch centre mid was, 'cos I happen to think Van Bommel was one myself. I really can't think of a top draw Dutch defender since Stam though. Not at centreback.

I'd still consider van bommel a great central midfielder, he has been great for milan, this year especially.
