Had Robbie Keane not fluffed every chance he got infront of goal in 08/09, he would have been the player we bought to improve us to win the title and we would have won the title yet instead he proved to be a piss poor aquisition and was sold on 6 months later.

Yossi Benayoun? Maybe not legendary but a fave... now just a journeyman.

Sami Hyypia is a legend in my everyones eyes but should have been paid more respect 2006 onwards and gone on to even greater achievements.

A confident Ryan Babel could have been anything.

Easy answer he was a wing back-which is the position he played for Germany.He wasnt strong enough defensively to be a full back in a back four.Houlier didnt believe in a wing back system like Roy Evans.His signing defied logic with Houlier as Manager.

There was a guy in the 60's called Alun Evans-the first 100,000 teenager.He looked as if he would become a world beater until he got glassed in a nightclub which made him lose bounce and confidence.Rob Jones is a good shout too.

Fernando Torres was an absolute phenomenon. Fast, strong, good in the air, gifted with an expert technique, cool as fuck in front of goal. He was a legend in the making. The first Liverpool player since Robbie Fowler to score more than twenty league goals in one season. The first player since Roger Hunt to score eight successive league goals at Anfield. The first player since Jack Balmer to score successive hat-tricks at Anfield. The fastest Liverpool player ever to score fifty league goals. A player held in such esteem he was supported more vocally by The Kop than two local legends in Jamie Carragher and Steven Gerrard. He was simply amazing. Then he signed for Chelsea.

I was going to mention Stan. The guy had mental health issues etc. which I think has been well documented but for me, he was one of the most naturally talented players I have seen for along time. There was a period where Collymore and Fowler were the most exciting partnership in football. I even had Stan's name on the back of a shirt [that fucking horrible V neck number we were in at the time].

Then he steadily morphed into a complete and utter fuckwad.

Such a weird time for the club that - lots of players that were essentially a bees dick away from being legends, but let the ale, 'celebrity' and games of 'pass the pound' fuck it up for them and for us.

Heggem- Always had a soft spot for Vedgy, quick, good feet, not scared of getting a foot in, good positioning

Collymore- If he had his head screwed on he would have been Shearer's partner all through his England career and been fantastic for us. He really did have everything.

Torres- very, very sad. Immense during his time with us, dipped under Hodgson and pissed off.

Friedel- Never clicked for him here, but had a long career and gave the best goalkeeping display I have ever seen for Blackburn against Arsenal. Our goalkeeping position had a period of being very hit and miss. "Calamity" James period, Jerzy having his wobble after a great start, Westerveld had shaky periods, Kirkland couldnt stay fit

Surprised at only the ~~one~~ ~~two~~ three mentions of Collymore. The sheer amount of wasted talent (possibly at every club he played for). I managed to attend many home (and a few away) games of that 1995-96 season and the things he managed to pull off took your breath away at times. Everytime I see footage of Stan in a red shirt I just think of what could have been, definitely should have been a LFC and England regular for years.

Friedel did not have the ability or stature to be a Liverpool keeper during his time at Liverpool or, indeed, many years after. He's matured in his 30's and finally become a top keeper, but he was nowhere near whilst at Anfield.

When I think about Luis Garcia, I've only got very happy memories. For that reason, I put him in the legend category. There's some players that, for whatever reason, just 'click' with fans. Frustrating little bastard though he could be, Luis Garcia was one of those.

He's 5 foot 7, He's football heaven.....

Everyone knows he backed out of the '83 deal, but Laudrup also nearly signed later for Kenny in '89 after leaving Juve (alongside Rushie) but eventually decided on Barcelona.
