All those expressing sympathy for this massive bellend need to bear in mind we could end up facing Chelsea at Wembley and anything can happen in a one-off game. He plays for the enemy and acted like a c*nt when he left, just remember that.

Damning with faint praise, I'd argue.  It's only because of how far everyone's expectations of Torres have fallen that it is seen that way!!

Haha could well be mate.

But there were a few times he looked to have a burst of pace, and in particular when he surged past 3 players and won a corner, didn't think he was that bad.

I reckon he would thrive elsewhere personally, even now.

See this goal, now compare it with his missed chance tonight to see how far the mighty have fallen.

thought he did alright last night, the open goal wasnt really an open goal compared to some of the shite we've missed this season.... it was a tight angle and he would have buried it ala Euro2008 final in the past.

He's still got his pace, I said it before. I'd have him back, for all the extolling of Andy's very good performance on Tuesday, they are hardly his regular performances.
Would sacrifice Fordy in a sacred Mayan ritual to have him as the next Liverpool manager

It will hardly be a meaningful game - second to last of the season, isn't it?

Thought he looked better last night - he worked hard defensively and put in a few challenges.

But the alarming things for me where firstly, when Chelsea broke late into extra-time, and Drogba volleyed wide - it was two on two. Torres released Lampard on the left (think it was Lampard or maybe Cole) and he crossed it in for Drogba who vollyed it first time. Where was Torres? Hovering in the fucking centre circle! He released the ball to Lampard and just stood there watching. Why was he not breaking his balls to get into the box? There was two on two up there! He could have had a chance on a plate! Secondly, the celebrations at the end - he sulked off the pitch while the rest of the players stayed together and congratulated each other. Di Matteo ran and jumped on him, but nothing.

Think he'll be gone in the summer and he knows it.
I saw that as well - was secretly smiling to myself (I won't lie) as it serves the c*nt right as I am absolutely delighted every game he plays for that shower of shit and don't score, but WHY do I still want the fucker back?

I know why - Chelsea don't deserve him. He's not meant for Chelsea as they are a bunch of absolutely despicable, nasty, arrogant, cheating, scum and being honest, is totally not what Fernando Torres is. (fuck - I'm defending him...)

As for the bad ju-ju bit: Sorry, but I couldn't resist the Voodoo doll and pins set...

£50m was an absolute bust. The guy obviously now hates himself, hates his life and hates his football. It is getting quite sad to watch, IMO.

I dont know if he hates his life nor football because he is earning a very good pay for a job he is massively under-performing.

I really hope he comes in to some form and fires Chelsea to 4th and the FA Cup.

I feel so sorry for him.

If he could get a goal against us at Wembley and Anfield that would really do him the world of good.

Can we dig out that Torres banner for Sunday's game? Let the lad know we're all behind him?

All he's doing is walking.

Fucking hell the way that people project their emotions on to him frightening.

Look in the background, what do you see? Chelsea players walking about and shaking hands in the same manner Torres was. Were they all misty eyed, looking off in to the middle distance and feeling melancholy as well?

We do not say no if a player wants to go.

This is a dumb policy if we're actually making decisions based on this. Whether a player wants to go should have no bearing on whether or not we're letting them go.

If a player wants to go because he is not getting what he wants from the club (whether it is reasonable or not), I do not see what is the dumb thing in this.

But it's the way he's walking. He's walking like a man who's come home from training to find John Terry sitting in his favourite armchair watching his 60" plasma, then walking into the bedroom and seeing his wife lying in bed smoking a ciggie and staring into the distance while there's a fairly obvious stain still visible on the curtains....can't you see?

I don't think I've ever seen a player drop such form in the space of a couple of seasons. Do I feel sorry for him? Do I fuck.

I reckon he'll go back to Atlético in the summer, used as a makeweight with Falcao coming the other way.

It's one of the problems we have as a club. That old drunk down the M62 has forced players to stay, players that are/have been world class and lets them go on his terms not theirs. Seems we work in the opposite fashion.

This is a dumb policy if we're actually making decisions based on this. Whether a player wants to go should have no bearing on whether or not we're letting them go.

Yes it should. Look how Man City have made a pig's ear of the Tevez situation. Should have sold him in the summer. If a player is unhappy and won't play for the club then that's a good reason to get rid. I'm not saying that all players who want to leave should be allowed to leave but it's often the best thing to do.

How much is Tevez worth now compared to how much he was worth in the summer after Man City have given him the opportunity to create bad press for both parties.

Selling Torres was a brilliant move. A crocked player for £50M. And as long as he stays ineffectual then that's perfect.

If anything man city have done something brilliant but setting out the stale, you can't leave unless they match our fee and not only that you mis behave we will just waste your career. Your either with us or against us and its upto the player to make sure they don't step out of line.

Its stupid selling players just becuase they want out as it gives the player all the power and you should never sell an asset unless they can be adequately replaced with equal or better quality which is a hard thing to do.

Bayern have refused Ribery his move a few times now and then munich have built the team and are now one of the best in europe and now the player has changed his mind.

Tevez himself is now willing to come back and help citys title charge so city have come out better than just selling for the sake of it as have tottenham with modric.

I was happy with selling Torres. It had nothing to do with whether or not he wanted to go. By hanging on to wantaway players, Man Utd won the title in a season where we were the most feared team in Europe, while Tottenham look like securing CL football and the access to the top European players this brings with it. What would you say if Suarez decided that he needed to play CL before his time ran out? Would you loan him out to whatever club would pay a portion of his wages, with Liverpool paying the remainder? What about Reina?

I was happy with selling Torres. It had nothing to do with whether or not he wanted to go. By hanging on to wantaway players, Man Utd won the title in a season where we were the most feared team in Europe, while Tottenham look like securing CL football and the access to the top European players this brings with it.

I wasn't happy bout Torres leaving, I didn't like it when Gerrard wanted to leave also. We should have kept him until the summer at least, he would do better in our side now than he does at Chelsea.

Selling him was stupid. The club should always call the shots, not the players. Look how everyone thought forcing Modric to stay was bad, but Spurs benefited in the end.

I've often wondered what might have happened if Rafa had forced Owen to stay that final season in 05 and risked losing him on a free.  Would we have won the CL?  If we had would he have stayed?

As I've said, I really don't see the point in having Nando back when we can invest in a younger, hungrier player but I can never get over the feeling he has unfinished business with us...
