Liverpool Manager Kenny Dalglish today insisted Luis Suarez is right to apologise for failing to shake Patrice Evra's hand at Old Trafford.

"Ian Ayre has made the Club's position absolutely clear and it is right that Luis Suarez has now apologised for what happened at Old Trafford," said Dalglish.

"To be honest, I was shocked to hear that the player had not shaken hands having been told earlier in the week that he would do.

"But as Ian said earlier, all of us have a responsibility to represent this Club in a fit and proper manner and that applies equally to me as Liverpool Manager.

"When I went on TV after yesterday's game I hadn't seen what had happened, but I did not conduct myself in a way befitting of a Liverpool Manager during that interview and I'd like to apologise for that."

Suarez and Kemmy have clearly been talked to by the club and to be honest it's a fucking disgrace. Neither what Kenny or Luis did was wrong and they should be backed by the club not made to release statements like these.

I am livid. Why is the club being so spineless. Why have they not tackled Ferguson over his comments. Why has the king apologized. Why has Suarez being publically hung out to dry. I'm ashamed of the club.

What ever you feel, with the shit storm brewing it had to be done. Right or wrong, no matter which side of the fence you sit on, the people involved had to take one for the club

IF they hadn't every fucking twat in the world would stick their nose in. Some c*nt on the news was making out how racism cannot be accepted (which it cant) but used the LFC thing as a story back drop

It's even in the NY times, PFA are gettign worked up again.etc

Glad to see the club apologising. I know people here believe we should never apologise for anything, but the club's stance in recent months has been shocking.

And for people blaming the owners for this - I'm sure they're behind it, but Kenny's not going to apologise unless he believes it's for the best.

Our owners showing that they'll do anything for a positive PR spin other then doing some positive PR and actually having a PR person worthy of their paycheck. Suarez apology was warranted to an extent at least, but this, this is the bend over day and I'm actually saddened by this.

These statements prove the owners are taking a no messing approach and won't stand for anybody trying to put a dark cloud over the club.

I love Kenny, but i think he's wrong to release this statement. He may be pissed off at Luis for not doing what was expected but Luis has apologised for what he did. Any issues between Luis and Kenny should have been dealt with behind closed doors. .As for apologising to sky sports? beyond belief!

I'm disgusted that two statements released by the managing director of the club and the manager don't even mention the disgraceful comments made by alex ferguson about one of our players and our club yesterday.
