i hope we put them back in their place. they are due a thumping from us. there are a few spurs fans i'd love put back in their place and i'd love it if we finish above them.  i'd love to see their "title challange" implode starting monday.

Very difficult to know what team Kenny's going to pick for this one. Guess Reina, Johnson, Skrtel, Agger, Enrique, Gerrard (if fit), Henderson and Spearing are shoe-in's but not sure about the rest. Difficult to drop Carroll and Kuyt since they've finally started playing well (and scoring) and who'd drop Bellamy given his current form? Then you've got Suarez, who might not have played for a month but is arguably our best player. Personally, I'd go for:

Reina

Johnson  Skrtel  Agger  Enrique

Spearing  Henderson

Kuyt  Gerrard  Bellamy

Suarez

I could be wrong but were previous yellows discarded on Jan 1st? He's hardly been booked 5 times since then, has he?

Spurs are a team with pace and we need to match them. Downing should start imo. My team would be
Reina
Johnson
Agger
Skrtel
Enrique
Bellamy
Gerrard
Spearing
Adam
Downing
Suarez

Don't know how Assou Ekoto is playing in this game.  Should be banned for three matches.

If Probert saw that incident and did nothing, after the Cabaye on Spearing challenge as well, he should never ref another game of football.

Everyone seems to be putting Gerrard to play ahead of Henderson. It's clear that Stevie still isn't at 100% fitness and if they both play, Henderson will be the more advanced player as he has been previously. Personally I think that's the best idea, I trust Gerrard to keep control of things in the center more than Hendo. And with hendo's engine and fitness much higher than Stevie's at the moment, he is definitely the better player to be chasing down defenders and putting pressure on them trying to nick the ball back.

for the next 2 games i would play bellamy and suarez up top

that may seem a bit harsh on carroll but it is about the team rather than the individual

i just think that the constant and dangerous movment and sheer workrate of both bellamy and suarez could get us at least 4 points from these 2 difficult games

carroll will be back in the fold soon enough

I'd definitely be including Suarez and Bellamy but it wouldn't be at the expense of Carroll. He's finally starting to look something like the player he was, there's nothing good that could come from dropping him now.

Carroll was involved in both goals against Utd, providing an inch perfect flick on for the winning goal.
He then runs the length of the pitch to score the opener against Wolves.
He should not be dropped.

Kelly Skrtel Agger Enrique
Spearing

Carroll

Just my opinion fellas. I like Carroll, and I'm delighted he is turning the corner. I just think that, given the opposition in the next 2 games, we will be better equiped to attack their deficiencies with Bellamy/Suarez and without the big man.

I absolutely understand why people may feel otherwise - this is just my opinion - and if the big fella gets the nod then I hope he proves why I am on a forum and not on the bench picking the team!

I'd rather them draw. We gained on both Arsenal and Chelsea 2 pts this round, and another two for Chelsea would be welcome. But that would mean that City can open a gap on United again (provided they can, of course); two birds, one stone...

I think the only real selection gamble will be whether or not Kenny plays Kuyt or Bellamy.

If he selects kuyt on the right i would assume its so that he works hard and doubles up on Bale.

If he selects Bellamy he will be pushing to attack and pin Tottenham back.

The counter is the biggest threat.

Can not wait for this game!  :)

Reina

Johnson Skrtel Agger Enrique

Gerrard Spearing Henderson

Kuyt Suarez Bellamy

Can't bloody wait for this. This is the team I hope to see. Defence picks itself. Gerrard obviously back in and we need the three to match them. Kuyt has to be one of the first names on the teamsheet for these type of games. Bellamys in the form of his life atm. Toss up between Suarez and Carroll which is a no contest. Along as he's fit Suarez should start abit harsh on Carroll but the best player always wins out.

Who do we really want with the responsibility of marking Bale on the left wing (assuming that is where he plays)?  Does anyone really want to see Johnson played ahead of Kelly?

I'd far far rather have Johnson play - he's just better than Kelly in every facet of the game including dealing with a player like Bale... and it's not close between them. I know people like Kelly and he's a good player but technically and athletically at both ends of the pitch Johnson is in a different class right now

Must-win. Must-win. Must-win. Must-win. Must-win. Must-win. Must-win. Must-win. Must-win. Must-win. Must-win. Must-win. Must-win. Must-win.

I'm actually a nervous wreck for this already, moreso than both the United and the City match.
On the one hand, we're increasing in form and it's at home so we've got a damned good chance. On the other hand, Tottenham are playing really well and I simply fear that a loss here (Particularly a heavy one) would just send us regressing backwards.

Either way, fuck it, let's do them!

Really pumped for this game! I like how others have suggested for Kelly to start to hopefully somewhat negate Bale on our right hand side. I think the fact that he got some game time during one of the Manc games, was ideal preparation to start against Spurs. With Kenny claiming Gerrard to be back for this game, I'm gonna go with the following attacking lineup.
                  Reina
Kelly    Skrtel   Agger   Enrique
         Spearing  Henderson
 Suarez     Gerrard    Bellamy/Downing
                 Carroll

If Carroll does not start, I will be gutted. Never thought I would be saying that! :) I believe this is the perfect time to be playing them, even though they are obviously our bogey team.

Praying carroll gets another start and continues his recent improvement as well.
