It's fucking gorgeous outside. What a day for a hundred year celebration of the Cathedral.

Fuck new soul-less stadiums. Fuck em to hell.

Is absolutely correct. I miss My Yankee Stadium so much. I hate that fuckiing monument to excess baseball disney world they built across the street. It may have smelled like armpits and piss, there may have been sewer backwash coming out of the faucets and fountains, yeah you might have to share a toilet with a rat the size of a small dog, but that was home man. Home in all it's rank and obnoxious glory.

BTW, you guys suck.
The one most important thing that we all must remember, in case it slipped our mind, is this club is much more important and bigger than anybody. I'll never forget that and anybody that does is being a wee bit irresponsible and stupid I think because the club is more important than any one individual. The Club is, The Club.

Gah. Given the pomp and circumstance beforehand  I had this down as a win. Seems as if the Sox weren't as inspired as everyone else. They should have asked Pedro to pitch.

Right now this looks likes a poor team. As for the Tito chants, did that remind anyone else here of anything?

Why is Boston called "Bean Town"?

It's because of Boston baked beans I believe. Not to be confused with Birmingham, where they eat bostin' baked beans.

Today's game starts very shortly. It's scheduled to be live on ESPN America, but with Giants v Mets game tied in the bottom of the ninth, it may be a little while before coverage starts.

It's also on Fox today, which means Joe Buck and Tim McCarver. Grim.

According to ESPN, the Sox have acquired Marlon Byrd from the Cubs. Michael Bowden, who was recently designated for assignment, is thought to be heading the other way.

Colour me underwhelmed.

Is the Red Sox bullpen actually made up of random punters pulled from the stands this season?

Mind you it's no surprise, but to let a 9-0 lead go is pretty bloody shocking.

He'd thrown 99 pitches through six innings. I don't think it was a terrible call taking him out, particularly with an eight run lead to play with.

Yeah nothing wrong with the decision to bring him off. The bullpen shouldn't be blowing 9 run leads. Not looking good here with bases loaded and no outs.

Is it because he's a good hitter?
