I quite like Bellamy. His record last season was good. Had about a goal every four games. But let's be honest, he can be sacrifised. He'll be 33 in just a few weeks time. He has a history with injuries, which will limit him to being a backup option. I think he came on a free, so I'd expect his wages to be quite high. He certainly isn't sacred to our progress. We'd be mad to bet our season on his fitness.

That said, I'd rather keep him than many others. Bellamy could/should be used as a "shield" for a younger player, for example Sterling. Think of it as them sharing a role as backup for LM. Bellamy is also a handy option to have up front. We could do the same there. Have Bellamy and Morgan/Pacheco/... share a backup role. Used in that kind of role, Bellamy can be worth keeping. If we sold him, it wouldn't bring in enough cash to get an equal or better option in. It's similar to Kuyt there. A million or two richer, or an experienced players shorter? Bellamy isn't sacred. Shouldn't be. But if we are to progress and really fund better players, we need to sell those who can bring in bigger fees.

We need leaders and players with strong characters in the team. We've already lost Dirk. I dont want us to lose Craig aswell. Hes a very good player to have in the squad aswell.

I can see him playing at this level for another 2-3 seasons. He's a model pro that knows how to look after himself, and he's a great experienced head to have around. I'd tie him down with us 'til his playing days are over.

Think he'll be an important player this coming season.

We need pace and we need wide players. Bellamy is/has both.

Unless we see a huge influx of those type of player, im talking about say 3-4 because we already need 2 (imo), then I cant see Bellamy being surplus to requirements.

Also think he now provides much more than just what he does on the pitch. Having watched that 24 hours in Singapore thing on LFCTV he comes across as incredibly mature these days. He knows his role and he knows the club. I think having Bellamy around the squad will do wonders for the young lads we've got.

He went the long way around in terms of realising what he needed to do. Fell out with people and was a gobshite a lot of the time but he seems to have come out of it a better person and a better professional. Certainly think he could pass some of that on to those younger players.

He's reliable as well, you know what you'll get from Bellamy. Rodgers will need that sort of assurance in his first season.

I'd be gutted if he left, still think he has another season in him. However this shows how ruthless this management structure can be.

With Aurellio & Kuyt already leaving. That leaves Maxi, Gerrard, Carragher & Cole as the 30+ outfield players. I could see 1-3 of them leaving but that's another subject all together.

Reading the BBC report it seems that Craig leaving could happen.

Another player who will need replacing in the squad.

he was our best signing last season

dipped off at the end but even then he still contributed the odd moment of quality

i don't believe we'll be bringing in a top quality winger - think if we do bring in someone it'll be a young player, so i'd defo keep him for another season
I think I may be turning gay. That back heel & through ball to Enrique made me jizz like Ive never jizzed before. My fiancee has got some serious work to do if she wants to get me as excited as I do about Coutinho.

He certainly performed in line with what we needed. I only have one critisism of the signing as such. We signed an older player, when we already had older players for the job we wanted to use him for.

We should buy a LM/RM this summer. Look at our options now - Bellamy, Cole, Downing, Maxi. They're 33, 30, 28, 31. Cole will be 31 later this year and Maxi turns 32 in January. If we don't buy now, we may have to sign 2-3 players at the same time. Means a lot of money is forced to go there and it's bad for the manager. He's forced to act, when he'd like to be able to choose where to spend.

The right thing to do is to sell one or even two of those four this summer. If not Bellamy, then expect to replace him next summer. And I think Maxi's contract is up next summer. That pretty much forces us to buy two players next summer. And those are the two that offer the team something.

Unfortunately for us, the youngest option, the one we should build around for the future, Downing, has been very disappointing. And then there's Cole, who is still causing the manager a headache because of the incompetent people who signed him.

We have four options that could/should all be replaced within the next 12 months. We may have to be pro-active here and take the offers we get. The important thing being that we can't hold on to any of those four options too much. It will be interesting to see how Rodgers solves it.

I hope he stays.
I'd have him over a fair few players we have now.
I don't have any issues with his age as long as he can still do it on the park - which he can.
And he gives us an option up front.

He was our best wide player last season.  He has great energy, pace, skill, gets goals, works his arse off and loves the club.

He should stay as we won't get a massive fee for him and he'd be more value here.

I thought he was our best player last season, even ahead of Skrtel, not many games did he disappoint.

He can still play to a very high level at the top of the Premiership, so there's no real reason the club should be letting him go to play in the Championship.

It would be sheer lunacy to let him go for a couple of million.

A real winners attitude, he seems to have turned a corner with his temperament, his charity work, all this makes him a good example to the younger players, seems to love the club, can change a game instantly, a hugely talented and hardworking individual who looks after himself and can give us options. Ok he'll never play 40 full games a year, not even 30, but I'd rather him playing a bit part role than bring in some youngster and have to blood them in and find they are good but not quite what we need.

When you add up all the parts, I can't see the wisdom in moving him on for the sake of another fringe player or a million or two in the bank.

I think Craig is great but we can't rely on him to play two games in a week and he isn't the future, so if we get a couple of million and he is happy, I'd wish him well

IMO, we can make use of him in European nights and domestic cups. Adding to that he can make substitute appearance in League also. He can make difference in such matches. We can keep him until his contract runs down. Quality player to have on bench.

Of coarse he isn't our future but he's one of the few players we have that you can bring on at 70 minutes and change the game. Think it would be a real shame to move him on for the few peanuts we'd get. He can't play 2 games a week but that's what the squad is for.
On the other hand they may have a great replacement lined up cause lets face it none of us know who are targets are apart from the Icelandic bloke who's name I'm not going to attempt to spell.

Craig Bellamy has told Brendan Rodgers that he wants to play for Cardiff next season, also family reasons are also a big part of it as well, his wife refuses to leave the Vale(dont blame her) and wants Bells to be down here more with her and the children and he wants the same, this is more than money to Bellamy. Rem u need a happy player to get the best out of him.

Pros

Lowers our wage bill
Might get some sort of fee for him
Cant play every game even if he stays

Cons

Plays well for us
Offers us an impact player from the bench
Seems a good influence around the club
Obviously loves the club, fans and setup
