Haha, classic Billy, happy to back up Matt, yet when there is a lack of evidence, he moves the goalposts.

You're the one always demanding evidence, now I am.

I don't need to move any goal posts lad. The evidence is all there. Anyone who watches hurling will tell you the same thing about Walsh. I'm not biting on this one anymore by the way. You're clearly on a wum run here.

I suppose now is as good a time as any to mention that 'GAA Thread 2012' has been the most successful of the lot and we haven't even finished the championship.

Well done to all posters you really are a credit to your counties :P

Now, go and find me 3 videos showing any other hurler in the history of the game using such dirt.
:lmao I had completely forgot about the Brian Gavin incident. Please try explain how that is not filthy Anywhichway....

He swings the hurley downward's aiming for people's heads 4 or 5 times.

I really don't understand why you can't accept that it is common knowledge that Walsh is a fantastic hurler, but a dirty one.

Bill Shankly-"I know this is a sad occasion but I think that Dixie would be amazed that even in death he could draw a bigger crowd than Everton can on a Saturday afternoon"

Mitch Hedberg-"Dogs are forever in the push up position"

The incident with the ref was a sending off, but the rest of those, to call them dirty is nothing short of embarrassing, none of them are any worse than Maher's two incidents, yesterday.

Some of you ought to read what you are saying, the way the word 'dirty' is being thrown around in here is appalling. We have a fabulous sport, the best in the world for me, it's a physical sport, and considering there are adrenaline fueled men with hurls, we ought to be very proud of the way they conduct themselves. Of course there will always be incidents where players will push the boundaries or go OTT, but hand on heart, I couldn't name a single 'dirty' hurler, in the country.

Hold on a second. You cried your eyes out because Maher didn't get sent off yesterday, but now you're saying Walsh didn't deserve to get sent off for exactly the same thing?! You're either a wum or clueless.

Anyone who swings a hurl at someone else on purpose deserves a lengthy ban imo.

There's no comparison between what Walsh did in those clips, and that pull by Maher, in the second half. Maher's pull in the first half was also a lot more reckless and dangerous, than anything Walsh done in those videos.

Now, everyone fuck off calling me a WUM.

The incident with the Galway no.12 is every bit as bad as Mahers. The ball has gone and Walsh takes a deliberate swing at the man. No messing about either, he swings hard enough for his stick to break in two. He could have done that hurler some serious damage.

Referees for the Hurling final named.

Barry Kelly's doing the senior one. I think he doesn't have the laissez-faire attitude of Cathal McAllister or Brian Gavin  (as the Irish Times said yesterday, sunday's game had the lawlessness of a wild west saloon).
So Tommy Walsh will get away with less than normal  ;)
James McGrath of Westmeath and Diarmuid Kirwan are linesmen.

Full disclosure: James McGrath is a good friend of mine, and as a Westmeath Gael I'm delighted to see two Westmeath officials getting the nod here, if only to stop the old joke about Westmeath GAA  (Q: Name the only Westmeath men to take the field in an All-Ireland Final?  A: Foster & Allen.)
When you're from one of the 'minor counties', you grasp at any old straw when it comes to All Ireland sundays.
Filthy old alcoholic lying trampy bastard.

Going by that picture and what Anywhichway posts on here Kilkenny must be the most depraved for style county in Ireland

Good article that Billy.

I guess the game at the highest level has now become all about the oul  intensitaaa....

Killkenny bring that to the table like no other. In this era we live in where everything is under the microscope with the internet and whatnot a lot of the stuff that goes on,the cynical stuff that Donal og eluded to in his article, the grabbing of the hurl with the loose hand, the grabbing on the face mask, the pulling, the dragging the dig with the but end of the hurl etc etc,its all spotted by everyone. So it gets saturation coverage these days.

Its become win at all costs now.How you play,set-up tactically, weather its pleasing on the eye of the hurling aristocrat or not dosen`t really matter. Its about getting the result,by any means necessary.Break the rules when you can get away with it once it benifits your side.

Lar Corbett on the large didn`t break any rules on sunday when he decided to be Tommy Walsh`s shadow. He was clearly instructed by Declan Ryan to do so.A junior B hurler could have done what Lar did on sunday. This tactic was to wind up a fellow hurler (c*nt or not) to a point where he gets him sent off. This is the prime example of the win at all costs, cynical tactics.Ryan somewhat deprived one of the finest hurlers to have come out of the premier county his opportunity to show what he can do for Tipp, make an impact, with his skills with the hurl, not by playing chasing.

A lot of this cynical stuff has gone on for years but has gone unoticed,or at least ignored.Donal og goes back to a bygone era where the hurling aristocrats of Offally ruled the roost in `98 with the slik wristwork of the Dooleys,Brian Whelehan,Johnny Pilkington and co.Or the Cork teams of Doanl o grady and then John Allen who employed the running game.Dirty shite went on in those days too,not as much as today but it did.As donal og says Micheal Duignan himself was no stranger to mixing it when things got dirty and he`d the neck to cry foul time and time again while commentating on sunday.Oh the irony!!

Donal og made a great point.Maybe after game analysis of the incidents and adequate punishment later might make some players and managers think twice and go out and play the game how it should be played. With skill AND intensity.
That right peg hits it and you see the future arc of the ball and time goes al gluey like a Dali painting, and for a second there's a 20yr old StevenGerrard and your young self cheering him on through the prism. His big smile fades in an the net is shivering and J.Hart's trying not to look grateful for the privilege of being that close to greatness

surprisingly quiet in here....
