Membership Cards - Confiscated - Advice Please
« on: January 23, 2012, 04:53:51 PM »
I had a situation last week at the stoke game where I swapped the cards for my two seats together in the kop for two singles in the kop basically my brother was going with his wife and wanted to sit together so me and my mate did him a favour.

Anyway one of the Cards I gave to my brother didn't swipe at the turnstile and when they went to the steward and saw two mens names on them they printed them paper tickets - but also confiscated their cards.

I have been in touch with LFC early last week who told me that that I would have to wait for them to contact me - which hasn't happened.

Problem is I have all the games for the rest of the season on these cards inclulding City and Utd this week. Has anyone else had a similar experience or know how I can go about getting this resolved quickly?

Cheers

5 years ago one of my mates sacked off going the match but kept his PTS going as another mate used it instead. He never had any trouble for 2 years and then before the Villa 5-0 game the card wouldn't swipe through the reader. The ticket office printed a paper ticket for him but they suspended the card until the mate who's card it was went to the ticket office with ID.

If you lose your card you can get another for £10 I think, may be worth saying that happened to avoid any hassle.

Not a good idea as it's the club that has them and would probably put him in a worse situation than he might be in at the moment if he has to explain why he's now trying to get a duplicate card if he's had it confiscated.

My advice would be to ring the club and ask for your card back explaining honestly that it was your brother who used the card and providing evidence to that effect if necessary. As said above, don't wait until the TO contact you as you'll be waiting for years, call (or turn up at) the TO today to get it sorted in time for the City and Utd games. It can't be that bad of an infraction if they confiscated cards but still let them in! (although worst case - you may be marked as a possible tout now!!)

Why on earth did you swap cards though?   We regularly swap seats around to accommodate people who want to sit together, just as you did, but we just go in on our normal cards but then sit in the other seats.  I am baffled why you went to the hassle of swapping cards when all four cards got you in to the same section of ground.

Interesting that the club are doing this... does worry me a bit though as we regularly have people going imn who don't match the description on the card.

To connect this to another thread on here, it might be that because it didn't swipe they just wanted to check that it wasn't an old card with a duplicate already issued. Aligns with them saying he can have it back without too much bother too. (The request for ID would just be normal practice to confirm it's the correct person they're giving it to).

I know a fair few who'd be up shit creek if they did that!! There's no way that some of them are 80 year old women!! ;D
