TEMPLATE TO SEND TO YOUR LOCAL MP
Quote
Dear Sir/Madam

I am writing this to you in the hope that it will help achieve what myself, and many others, as Liverpool fans, have been fighting for, for 23 long years. Justice.

As you may be aware, a petition was signed by 100,000+ members of the general public in order to help it on it's way to being debated by Parliament. The petition (which can be viewed through the following link http://epetitions.direct.gov.uk/petitions/19149.) was created by Mrs Anne Williams, who tragically lost her son during the 1989 footballing disaster of Hillsborough. As you are probably also aware, many other fans lost their lives on this day, however Anne has fought the fight for her son and others in the hope that both herself, and the families of the other 95 victims may finally get justice for the relatives that they lost that day.

I would urge you to please get this petition into Parliament, help get Mrs. Williams the inquest she so desires in order to finally lay her sons memory to rest peacefully and allow Liverpool fans around the world to honour the memories of the 96 fallen brothers and sisters knowing that justice has finally been done.

Thank you,

(Your Name, Address & Phone Number here)

Agree with this - just because a petition gets the numbers does not guarantee a debate.  We need to keep the pressure on and make sure this gets the time in Parliament it deserves.

Dear -----

Following the reaching of the 100,000 target of the petition 'Give Kevin Williams his inquest under section 13 of the coroners Act, we have all the evidence under this section but keep getting refused.' (http://epetitions.direct.gov.uk/petitions/19149) I am emailing you to ask for your support for Anne and her fight to find out why her son died, a right which any mother should have.

INCLUDE YOUR NAME, FULL ADDRESS AND TELEPHONE NUMBER IN ALL EMAILS PLEASE.

Thank you for your email. This is an automatic response to acknowledge that I have received your message.

I receive a large number of emails and letters every day and aim to respond to each one as soon as I can. However please do not be disappointed if you do not receive an immediate reply. My office and I seek to respond quickly and efficiently, but due to the nature of some queries, complex issues may need time.

Due to a strict Parliamentary code within the House of Commons, MPs may only respond to queries raised by their own constituents. As a consequence, if you are a constituent of mine in the Pontypridd constituency could you please ensure that you have included your full name, postal address and telephone number in your e-mail. If not, may I ask you to please resend with the information accordingly as I cannot reply without it and this will also speed up a reply.

If you have not had a response within 14 days, could you please email again with a reminder.

Thank you for taking the time to write to me.

Dear Sir (or Madam if you have a female MP)

You may be aware that a petition started by Mrs. Ann Williams, whose son died in the Hillsborough tragedy, has today reached over 100,000 signatures.

Mrs. Williams is calling for her sons death to be investigated at an inquest, and there are several strong reasons why this should be done.  The petition can be seen here - http://epetitions.direct.gov.uk/petitions/19149.

I would urge you to give your support and ensure that a debate on this issue is held in Parliament as soon as possible.

Yours Faithfully,

........(make sure you put your name and address as MP's need to know mail is from their constituency.)

Thank you,

I assume that only UK citizens/residents should contact their MP, as it's a little different from signing the petition.  Don't want to muddy the waters.  Let me know if I am mistaken.

Thank you,

(Your name here)
