reinstalling windows and getting msg Error loading operating system

anyone help me with this problem

basically reinstalling xp on a laptop and usually when i do this its a doddle but am trying to reinstall xp on a Fujitsu Siemens Amilo Pro and ive stuck the xp cd in and formatted the hard disk but it wont go any further  i just get a message on screen saying

"Error loading operating system "

anyone any ideas

set to boot from CD in Bios?

tried that

got four options

Boot device Priority

1st boot Device  [CD/DVD]
2nd boot device [Hard drive]
3rd boot device [realtek boot agent]
4th boot device  [removable disk]

yep cd drive  defo works as it formatted the drive first but once it done that it wouldnt load the operating system

Have you tried formatting the whole drive? You might have a corrupt boot partition.

yep formatted the whole drive it seems to be fine but as soon as it comes to start it says "Error loading operating system "

have you tried taking the cd out and then rebooting?  a friend of mine had a similar problem with his PC and he spent ages trying to fix it and was going to call pc world (or similar).  when i looked at it, i took the cd out of the drive and voila, pc started no problem.

My older PC needed a boot floppy disc to load cd drivers before the cd would load windows. Just a thought. Mind you be lucky to find a pc with an A:\ drive these days.

When I got my new pc, pc fuck ups was the main reason i got a floppy drive pu in. Everyone takes the piss i stil have one, but when you need it it may just save hours of grief
