He was strolling all through the game. Whenever the 'whose the best player' topic is debated, we get 'But Gerrard shone in a poor side'. Well, he hasn't very often for quite some time. As captain I expect him to encourage, advise, organise and support. He did nothing but scowl at the rest.

Pretty much sums his day. He cannot play that sort of midfield role.

3 years of mediocrity interspersed with no more than a handful of excellent performances. We're going to need to look to the future at some point, so how long until his place in the starting 11 is seriously questioned?

If Carragher is a precedent, he won't be dropped any time soon. Managers of yesteryear like Paisley probably would have either sold him or reduced his role by now.

The whole team had a bad game. Correct.

Gerrard played mainly on the right with Flanagan behind him. Correct.

Gerrard tried to make himself available for the passes and tried to supply crosses for Carroll. Correct.

He may have been good but he certainly wasn't disciplined, which in turn harmed the team.

Loyalty? What loyalty? People cannot wait to get rid of Kuyt and the likes, why shouldn't it be the same for every player in the team?

If anything, he is being wasted in this line up, he has a better chance of winning a medal with a team that can use him properly. If we are going to put him deep in the CM, then shift him out to the right, despite having a winger on the bench, I don't see what's the point of having him in the team.
