Or is it more the fact the clubs feel they can rob us because they know we're prepared to pay 35 million for a striker? I mean Sinclair isn't worth 20 million. Not many players are.

They're just doing what most clubs try and do, get the best price for their player. Look at the carry on we had with Holloway last January over Adam. I don't think what we paid for Carroll makes much of a difference here.

Stephen Martin says we can't agree a fee with Swansea over Sinclair. Arsenal interested too.

Good, Hopefully we will walk away.

There is a difference between the best price and a ludicrous price. And if you're not prepared to sell the player then don't even quote your 'best' price, tell everyone he's not for sale.

We could sign Sinclair if we wanted to.

If we can agree a fee it just means we obviously dont want him that much.

We dont know what Swansea are asking for. It could be a crazy amount. So we'd be right to not agree the fee.

Like 40M.

Seriously I highly doubt we're after Sinclair. If we wanted him then we could get him but we're not.

If it's true that Swansea want silly money for a player worth £7-10m max then I'd rather us try an get the best price than just bow to their demands and get him.

Just because we're Liverpool doesn't mean clubs will lower their prices and it doesn't mean that a player will instantly want to join us when we show interest.

This is so true and I have tried to convince some people on the Swedish LFC board about this. But at the same time, we do really need to improve our squad as it is right now. Not like in the summer, and my opinion is that we have done really good signings since Kenny came into the picture despite the fact that Downing have a terrible season this far but we all know hes a good footballer and performer in the EPL, but right now when this player from a so much lesser club should be an easy pickup - but as it looks like, he aint. And that makes me raise my concerns about our overall situation - We might have to upfront a lot of cash, I dont think that yet and I would pray on my bare knees if needed that we wont come into that situation.

So would I - When he aint playing like a complete Makkapakka from the Night Gardens at times and is more invisible then Laban the Ghost. But hey, Maxi and Kuyt need replacements and Sinclair fits in there I guess.

Sinclair would almost certainly jump at the chance to sign for us.

If we dont sign him it'll be because we dont want him enough to match Swansea's demands. Not because Sinclair didnt want to come.

I hope we're not legitimately interested. Let's say he costs 12 million - what would that buy you from the Spanish, French or German leagues

I agree. Think Sinclair is a good player, but £10m+ is not value for money. I've been watching Antoine Griezmann many times during the last two years and he's much better than Sinclair.

Yup.Dont think he is that good to be considered the missing piece etc.
If he is the right player then there could be many other right players.
So I think his cost is infact relevant.

No it wouldn't have. He was offered infinite riches at Bayern, turned it down to play for his boyhood club Dortmund. We were always gonna come in 3rd in that race at best.

if sinclair wants to join us he can always put in a transfer request like charlie adam did at blackpool.

that will certainly throw his transfer value you in to stark relief.

to be fair to swansea why would they want to sell one of their best players when they have yet to secure prem stability?

i reckon nothing will happen here until the summer.

i agree hass, i think that swansea would be mad to sell any of their players if they want a successful season. sinclair would be a lot cheaper for us in the summer too.....so a player like him i'd rather swerve at this moment in time.

best thing for us to do in this window is to keep buying quality youth and get some quality players on loan. we may see something major on the last day of the transfer window.

that's pretty much how its going to break down.  still nice to see business brisk at the academy end.

we're only going to move for a striker if we get the price we like and that means a lot of last minute musical chairs.

sinclair is perhaps more of a signing for the (near) future when maybe what we really need is an old pro on loan - see spurs for details ;)

Re Sterling, if he has a successful 2nd half of the season in the reserves and we're still interested in Sinclair in the summer it might be a good tool to throw a loan option for Sterling into the mix (although 90% sure we'll want to keep him under our coaching for another season) as they play really good football.

if he's good enough...  playing in the prem was fine for wilshire at his age so why not?

arsenal also being linked with sinclair today but don't see anyone getting him in this window.

Agree, as much as I want to see him make the step up though I'd rather wait till the first team players are firing on all cylinders.

Swansea is totally within their rights to ask £40m for him as far as I'm concerned. They've got a much better shot at staying up than Blackpool did last year, and Sinclair's an integral part of the team. They should tell him that he can leave in the summer if he wants to, and wind up selling him for £12m or so in August.
You know what, I'm writing this here now and I'm going to put it in my signature and leave it there for the next 5 years, no matter how embarrassing it might or might not turn out to be: Jordan Henderson is going to be a fantastic player.

If we can negotiate a decent fee with Swansea, he's got to be worth a go. He's done fine so far this season but he could do with dapting to this level a little more and playing in a better team would help him do that.

Pacey. Likes pointless step-overs. Takes people on but realizes no-one falls for his pointless step-over routine, and passes back to the fullback a la Downing. Fools no-one with his cut inside and drag a long shot routine, scores from the spot.

ive seen in him in a couple of games admittedly not alot, but from what i gathered he wasn't the best at taking players on,  however he seemed to get into good positions aswell as making runs into the box alot.

A very good championship player.
£15m? It seems low, but what people have to remember is that the fee is irrelevant.
