I think that's a penalty for Vettel. He is able to generate a lot more power by running wider.

I corrected myself. From the first angle and during the race I would have said it was legal. Seeing it again the move was completed off the track so its illegal

Agreed. No way he'd have been able to make that move stick if he hadn't ran fully off the circuit. Imo he's daft for not giving the place back.

I know weight is everything in F1, but why run so marginal on fuel? If there are no safety cars or rain then fuel will be an issue at the end. Such small margins in this game, that can end in frustration. And yes I know, I answered my own question

They can turn the engine down to save fuel too
