Seems like it's raining in Melbourne so wet practice and possibly more rain for the rest of the weekend.

Doing my head in trying to figure out how the Mercedes rear wing F-duct works and how it stalls the front wing. Got the gist of it, i'm sure someone will explain it and Sky will dumb it down anyway.

Are they the only ones on the grid using f-duct in such a fashion and is it generally considered to give them an edge?

That's what I was reading to try and understand it, I would've thought that while the car is moving forward it would be very hard for air to travel in a different direction and move down the end plates.

I presume this ties in with the hole in the front nose cone as well. Balancing the cars aero.

Managed to get on the pit straight today to see the real speed of the cars at 250km. It's so much better than the final corner. The noise blows you way compared to there.

I watched about 40minutes of FP1 and Sky were having ad breaks. I know its practice but come on. It's still something we want to see, they had the full crew there so i wonder if they'll be working like that at every race. Brundle in the pit lane with Ted. Everytime they went down to him they had a little animation come up for the driver that he was about to talk too. More filler stuff that we don't need. I hope they don't take ad breaks during Qualifying & race build ups.

Another thing, does anyone know how the FIA feed works? Do they have more then one so the broadcaster can chose which ones to have on? For example one feed is showing an on-board shot, the other could be in the pitlane and another one following different cars, it would then be up to the broadcaster on how they switch between them. I presume it's just one feed though right?

Qualifying probably not, but there will be an ad break seconds before each session and seconds afterwards. The commitment to no ads in the race means that it'll feel like half time where they have to shoe horn in a couple of ad breaks...

Pretty sure they will be having ad breaks during the build up shows, unfortunately.

As far as the feeds are concerned I'm pretty sure it is just the one, although I may be mistaken.

All the helmets for this season.

One or two nice ones, but most of those helmets are a complete mess. Can't tell who's who half the time. The age of great helmet design is gone.

I agree, the way they change all the time is a shame. In the past some really simple designs became legendary.

So did Vettell, at the start of his last lap.
Looking onboard at Hamilton's lap he was quite conservative with it, he was more Button than Hamilton

Mark Webber, who qualified fifth:
"We are aware where we need to improve and that's something which we will look at. I don't know what happened to Seb on his last lap, it looks like he made a mistake. I didn't have Kers either but I'm satisfied with the job I did in Q3. It was one run and not a bad lap. The pace to the front was not overly surprising. You take your hat off to people who have done a reasonable job."
