Laptop problem
« on: December 17, 2011, 08:59:41 AM »
The last few days I've been having problems with my laptop and was wondering if anyone had any advice?

The issue is when I start the laptop up it will just freeze on the first Dell load screen, where it has the options - boot and something else but it won't allow me to select either. After a few seconds it starts beeping loudly so I ususally just turn it off at the power at that point.

But if I leave it for a while and then try again sometimes it will boot up fine  ::)

So dunno if it's something to do with the fan as it has been running quite loud lately or if it's a virus of some sort?

Any ideas?

Put your Laptop Model on a post, and try this:

Could be RAM/Processor or Hard Drive that has failed.

This is on offer with them at the moment for the same value as your voucher...

    http://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/samsung-series-3-np300e5a-a06dx-15-6-laptop-silver-11884746-pdt.html

Lacks Blu-Ray and dedicated graphics but for £430 they'll be few and far between. It does however have a 2nd Gen Sandy Bridge i5 with 4GB RAM, it'll easily handle the stuff you've mentioned.

I bought this laptop. It doesnt boot at all. Any ideas? Cant get the Samsung Recovery Solution to work. Literally takes 5/6 hours to load it. Then when it does load, It wont let me select any of the options, 1 of them being a system restore. I've rang the PC World support, useless. Have rang Samsung direct, useless. They have arranged to pick it up next week but I would rather get it fixed before then. Any ideas how I can do a system restore that isnt in the Samsung Recovery Solution?

Hope this is the right place to ask, just got a little issue with me laptop.

Sometimes when I'm for example on RAWK, background noise will start playing and I haven't got a clue why and where it's coming from?  No other tabs are open.  Was watching Madrid before and some other program was playing over it.

Have I got a virus??

Want to add I haven't got a clue when it comes to computers etc..

What sort of noise do you mean? Might sound obvious but could there be an ad on the same page that's got sound on it? Quite often football streams will have that, usually you can press pause/stop on the advert. Though that wouldn't explain it when you're on RAWK with nothing else open.

It's playing now whilst I type,  it's a news bulletin then like a convo between people over the top of that.  Proper mad. Some fella now talking about rotations?????? Then a news bulletin and now people talking about being in an accident?????

3 different background noises going on oh and now a song to go with the above.

I've only got RAWK open and before that i was watching Madrid on SkyGo

Any ideas how to stop it??

Sounds very strange, almost like you've still got the sound from the footie stream playing after you've closed the page. I'm afraid I haven't got a clue (except turn your volume off until you get it sorted!), hopefully someone else will come along and offer some advice. Maybe run a virus check just to be sure though.
