The Govan tramp knows football.

Their lack of quality in midfield can only be explained by them being skint. Well either that, or he has finally joined Thatcher in senility.

Oddly though, it was a bizarre decision to buy Ashley Young. They have Nani and Valencia.

 :lmao

They played like a dead animal. Stunned by how easily Newcastle won. Not just the scoreline, but their control of the game. The Mancs were fucking appalling. Fantastic :)

Away to Arsenal & Chelsea in their next 4 league games. Then they have us at OT.

Uniteds season could be going pear shaped pretty soon.

Fantastic. To think we beat the same side 3 - 1 recently.

Remember some talk about Utd having to sign quality in centre midfield after their final loss to Barca last season. Names like Sneijder were being put forward, when the obvious need for them is a more defensive player there to organise them. If they don't sign one this January, there's a chance the money's starting to run dry.

As great as it is they don't need to make too many buys to be back up there do they? They clearly need some presence in central midfield and probably a left back? If they sort that out they will still be competitive for a good while. Do fingers crossed they're not spending anytime soon!

What a weird thread title. I hate these fuckers for the way they go about things, influence the powers that be and generally have a number of c*nts playing for them at any one time. All Reds I know love it when they get turned over.

Losers?

as blackburn and newcastle have shown, if you go at them and believe they are beyond fucking average. it's what makes it so annoying when teams like fulham (2 wins and a draw against united at home in previous 3 years, wins over us and arsenal at home this year, should have got something against spurs, came from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 with city), inexplicbaly fold 5-0 at home against them.

Damn lucky to be only 3 points behind though. And bloody lucky their squad falls apart just when they get to play Wigan and Fulham, ran out of luck against Blackburn and the Toon though :)

Think there's some emerging distinction between the clubs who are happy to spread their cheeks for the senile one's wilted nether regions and the clubs where there is no love lost.  City, Blackburn and Newcastle all have historic animosity towards them and are, mayhap, less willing to roll over given how obviously weak Utd are.

There signings haven't exactly set the world a light.

Ashley young bought at 18million and is on 130k is not better than what they already have especially considering there midfield issues. It wouldn't be such a problem but he has been poor bar the arsenal game.

De gea- need I go on, talented yes but very susceptible to mistakes and has been fucked up by ginsoaks rotational policy.

Phil' Future captain of england' Jones has been a calamity at centre back and most mancs know it, his best games have come anywhere but centre back due to his lack of positioning and inability to read the game well.

Thats close to 60 million they have spent to get closer to barca apparently without fixing there shocking midfield and having to rely on a 38 year old giggs and no actual right back present at the club bar the two brazilian twins.

It really does surprise me why more teams don't press them like newcastle and show them up for the lack of quality like they have done in the champions league.

They won it with a relatively low total last year though. If City maintain their form it should require quite a few more points to win it this year.

as i heard a united fan say earlier, their goalkeeping position is a joke, the da silva twins are not defenders, neither are jonny evans or phil jones, ferdinand and vidic are either injured or suspended, carrick and anderson are rubbish, fletcher is out ill, park is a headless chicken, nani is too inconsistent, young has had two decent games, giggs and owen are past it and berbatov is either brilliant or completely anonymous.

apart from that everything's fine.

I wish more teams would try and do what Blackburn and Newcastle did.  Go at the average fuckers!

That spineless twat Darren Anderton on Sky the other night when asked about Spurs' chance of the title.

"Spurs haven't been in the run-in before, United have.  That's what will win them the title"

Fucks sake!  It's this "oh, they're too good" attitude that hands them an advantage every year.  Its why they win titles with average teams ... others bottling it against their 'history'.

Fuck 'em, like European teams do in the CL.  They're just another team of 11 players, not something controlled by black fucking magic!

their centre midfield is fucking dire at best and teams should have a go at them more often. If you press them hard they´re not that great.. They´re good in the attack though at countering and punishing teams but there´s been lots of games this season where if the opposing team had finished a fifth of their chances they would have won comfortably.

Well to be fair they're out of the Champions League, League Cup, might not give a shit about the Europa (are facing a good Ajax, and how many of their fans would be satisfied with winning that alone) plus have City away in the FA Cup, the League might be the only thing they could actually win.

It goes to show what mentality can do.

That's essentially it though. Success breeds success. When Ronaldo was with them everyone on here kept bleating on about how they'd be an average team without him. Then he left, yet strangely, the league titles didn't dry up for them, did they? Yet now they're apparently an average side with poor signings. Yet strangely they're better off point wise now than they were at this stage last season. A season in which they actually won the league. So what explains it? I think you've hit the nail on the head. It is in fact their mentality. They have the same mentality now that we had throughout the 70's and 80's. Just a sheer belief that no matter what the circumstances are, that they can beat anyone. Pains me to say it, but it's true
