Don't they say that about most players Bayern want. Marco Reus to Bayern was done and dusted a few weeks ago, Mario Götze to Bayern before that.

I hope this is true, so I don't have to read tenuous links about him this summer on RAWK.
I'm really hoping Sturridge busts out the wacky dip when he scores.

I think there might be some truth in those rumours. Robben's contract ends in 2013 and he might leave. So, That paves way for another wide attacking player and Shaqiri would be good for them.

Depending on the add ons, but that looks like an incredibly good deal for Bayern.

There have been speculations, yes, but it's never been this concrete. Plus almost every rising German talent is linked with Bayern at some point.

EDIT: This the mentioned Bild-article:
Quote

Shaqiri to Bayern - that story is also gathering pace here in Basel (in the same way the Galatasaray link never did). I'm inclined to believe it.

Shaqiri has gone on record saying that he will leave the club this summer and that he wants to move to country where he can speak the language - which makes the Bundesliga his only destination, really. Recent Swiss football is full of examples of young talents who moved abroad at the first offer - and failed to integrate.

Looks like Shaqiri has learned from that.

Good move is true. The transfer fee is said to be between 10 and 12 Million Euros.

If anyone's still interested:

Xherdan Shaqiri traveled to Munich yesterday for his medical.

He'll sign a four year-contract with Bayern at the end of the week. He'll move to them at the end of the season.

Basel get 13 Million Euros for him plus add-ons if/when Bayern win the league.

Great signing for Bayern.  Have to say that club has something about it.  They are able to attract top quality players and more importantly retain them.

Yeah I wonder what it is, the nice salary, the highly competitive league (with most of the players of one of the best NT of the world), almost guaranteed CL football every season, the 6 weeks "off" during winter or maybe it's just Oktoberfest :P

Exacty the sort of player we need to sign.

And never do.

Cue the arguments this Summer when we buy some waster from the premier league for 20m pounds because he's "prem proven" and "will hit the ground running".

You'd think he was amazing if his name was Stewarti Downingo!  ::)

So much for that...

Bayern Munich have signed Switzerland forward Xherdan Shaqiri, 20, from FC Basel on a four-year contract commencing this summer.

"Xherdan will strengthen our team from next season with his football intelligence and dribbling", said Bayern coach Jupp Heynckes.

"I have been watching him for some time and I am convinced he can become an important player for the club."

Missed out on Shaqiri. Skill and work rate of Suarez but faster.  His main down side is his final choice, but he's still young.
