The draw's rigged, I'm tellin' ya's.

United got an away game against their dreaded rivals, City! What's the chances of a Manchester derby in this draw out of 64 teams?
Exactly! Ferguson will not be happy about this and you can take that to the bank. A chance for some real TV-money, eh?
On 5-live they were trying to get the odds of United vs City they decided it was 1/64 at the start of the draw, obviously they were not including the heated / cooled balls that alter the odds.
Suarez had no right to score that one but then again he is Suarez and he doesn't give a fuck.

Was playing virtually the first team against Exeter Kenny taking the Carling Cup ultra seriously or was it simply Kenny taking every opportunity to bed the new players in early. Exeter was early in the season when the players were fresh. The FA Cup will come at the end of the hectic Christmas schedule and players may need resting.
One thing does need to be said: in the post-Benitez era, there was media-led clamour (but also some politicking going on at the club) to make the club more English; the idea being that the club had lost the very essence of what it means to be ‘Liverpool’. Guillem Ballague 18/11/10

Really though, what is their best side? If they don't play Balotelli, they just play Aguero. If they don't play Nasri, they replace him with Johnson. If they don't play Silva, in comes Milner. There is no 'weak' City team and I don't think this draw particularly helps us if I'm honest - we are where we started.

Honestly? So if we'd have been away to United and City were home to Southend or Oldham, you don't think that would be different?

Regardless of what team City put out, they now have the pressures of a local derby thrown to in an already congested month. I'm not suggesting City have a weak team - I'm suggesting they have their first 'preferred' team and their second team. The second team ain't as strong as their first.

A lot depends on what happens to United and City in the league and what happens in our first game in the cup. If City are 8-11 points clear in the league, they may field a weakened team in the league knowing they could drop points without a significant consequence.

Either way, this draw clearly helps us more than City

Any idea when a replay would be played? I'm looking for a flight to Liverpool for the Tottenham match on February 6th so it would be good to know if there could be any change because of the FA Cup.

Don't think we should play a full 1st team. The game after is City away so it makes sense resting a few.

Looking at the fixtures Newcastle and two games away at city plus the Fa Cup game in a fortnight means we will almost certainly need to make changes. Then again as we showed against Chelsea the other night making changes doesn't necessarily weaken us the way it used to.

With all respect to Southend or Oldham, if we can't use a team formed from the first team and squad players then our squad is simply not good enough.

Against Exeter, I think we still had some distance to go in fitness. We had a pre-season of shop windowing players and, with playing no European Football, could afford to play the first team. Not sure this will happen in the FA Cup though.

3rd round replay must be the week commencing the 16th, as we have the CC the weeks before and after. A potential 4th round replay would be played on the Tuesday/Wednesday after Spurs. I don't know if the Spurs game would be moved since we played two games in three days recently, so they may just put the replay on the Wednesday and keeps Spurs on the Monday.

I think we should leave a couple of our more important players (Suarez, Spearing, Agger & Bellamy at least) completely out of the matchday squad so they'll be fit for City. Maxi, Carroll, Kuyt, Downing and Henderson to start.

Who did Arsenal and Chelsea get?

Chelsea v Portsmouth
Arsenal v Leeds United

Agree with that. At the minute I'd fancy our chances against united more than city. But the beauty of this draw is that it means one of the top two teams is going out of the cup early and if it's united then it likely means they'll be winning fuck all this season.

Chelsea vs Portsmouth

That was a midweek to be fair. I think tickets for Barnsley in 08 were around £25-£30, so I'd imagine it will be around that.
