Would I still exist in my consciousness if I had had a different father? Or if I was conceived a month/year earlier?

I can completely understand this mate - I worked as a labourer for the firm my Dad managed whilst I was at university and Dad, being Dad, always put me with this one foreman who he knew I hated because he was exactly as you describe here. He'd had his own company that he managed to bankrupt and was the most bitter, self important bellend out there. He got his comeuppance eventually, and I take immense satisfaction knowing it was me who saw to it.
Long story short; we built some commercial stables and the foreman told us to stick a manhole made of 9 inch concrete blocks on top of the septic tank - his theory being that we were behind time on the job and the bigger the blocks the quicker the build. The builder I was working with told him not to be so daft as it would weigh too much but he insisted because "I'm in charge of this site", he then disappeared off the job for two or three hours to "sort some important business". We did as he said, six months later the manhole collapses into the tank and resulted in shit everywhere - both literally and figuratively. When I found out about this I asked Dad what they were doing about the foreman and Dad told me that it was nothing to do with the foreman because, as the foreman told him, he (the foreman) had trusted the builder I was working with to do it properly and he can't believe the builder had fucked it up so badly!
I soon put my Dad right and the foreman got what he was due. I hate people like that so I understand your anger, but trust me, they do get what they deserve in the end one way or another.

Brilliant! I have no answer for you but what a great question...
When it rains a lot I will always walk along looking at the running water and think about how cool some of the 'rivers' would be as actual rivers or water park rides if they were bigger or I was the size of an ant. It guffed it down here the other day and there were some really cool looking 'rivers' that I walked past as I was on my way to work; it was when I got to work and mentioned this to my colleagues that I realised that not everyone looks at them that way. Apparently, it's a weird thing to do.

Chemical instinct, they dont decide anything, they react and rely on instinct, they dont have the brain power to behave and make a reasonable choice.
