How I yearn for the days when we can ponce top players in their peak from other 'big' clubs. Those days are probably over, welcome to the new reality. LFC a bedding ground for good players before they move on.
Djibriliant:
If he doesn't want to sign a new contract this year, I still wouldn't let him leave. If we acheive this season, then maybe he will sign an extension next summer, if not, we'll cut our losses and move on. No need to panic, but we shouldn't have gotten into this situation and only have ourselves to blame.
And CouldHe Play!:
For fucks' sake that sounds dire. "for now" I'm a Liverpool player, he doesn't sound committed. He could be like our own RVP

Not exactly a no. He must be asking for big dough.

Maybe big dough to our owners but not to other owners , hence Gerrard is considered to be on big dough and at City he wouldnt be . This is were i have said after this window we will all know were we stand as a club . If we are to compete for Champions League places we have to spend thats as simple as it gets as Utd , City , Chelsea , Arsenal , Spurs & Newcastle all have and will , plus alot of them teams have better squads than us already . We have heard we dont want to be owned by a sugar daddy scenario as well so if thats the case its going to have to be a bit of luck to get a top 4 place as not spending this summer after we have offloaded a few of our big players already leads me to believe that at present we will be lucky to get 6th , just my opinion . Also think the current owners want a certain wage structure and that maybe stability but it will come at a cost as our big players are bound to have their heads turned if they are not on even half of say Gerrards or Carras wage and they can match if not better it elsewhere , and all future players would see us as a stepping stone even academy players , which leads to the knock on effect of midtable buys and wages and finishes , glass definitly needs filling and hope FSG /NESV can supply the drink but i wont hold my breathe !

So his contract talks have stalled?
Excellent work, let's keep it like that so we can let him go for next to nothing next year.
If we get into reshuffling of our defence, the only decent and settled part of our team, we might as well give up any hope of going anywhere soon. Perpetual state of rebuilding is what happens when you sell your best player.
