Thought we were fortunate today. Thought we were slow and a bit lethargic all over the pitch and until the sending off was fearing the worst as they seem to be quicker to everything and playing with tempo.

But i'll take any win in the derby and second half we were a bit better. personally i would have dragged off Carroll but kenny stuck by him and was rewarded. i thought Adam did ok actually, i just thought the whole team front to back was a bit ponderous.

I can now relax for the rest of the weekend now!

Red card was harsh, but given Everton's general thuggery throughout the first half, I can't help but see it as natural justice that they were a man light.

The penalty was bought by Suarez - but legitimately so. He saw the rash challenge coming in, and made sure that there was enough contact to get the penalty. The defender should never have thrown himself into that tackle, and if you do that, you give away penalties.

Drenthe was interesting when he came up. When American TV do car chases, and they just speed the film up to make it look quicker - that is how Drenthe looked compared to his team mates. He just looked too sharp for his team-mates. He could be dangerous in a decent team of people who can think as fast as he plays.

I won't hold my breath about the FA taking disciplinary action over the missiles at the corners. It's not as if the Bitters could afford the fine any way...

Started decent but after they went down to 10 (not a red card btw) we seemed tentative, as though we were overly conscious of the ref 'evening it up' if he got the chance and didn't reallly pass and move around their 10 as we should've, afforded them too much space in midfield when they started the second half well (let's be honest, their players were strolling pass Adam). The real change came with stevie and bellamy coming on - stevie controlled the midfield and steadied us into a more controlled side and bellamy gave them problems from the wing immediately (thought downing was lack lustre today).

Overall, I thought we were a bit poor before the subs and totally in control after.

Thought the defence generally played well (esp centrebacks) for the most part but stood off them (wasn't helped by the midfield in this respect) on occasion when space should've been closed down.

Suarez not at his best but a pest all day and probably deserves motm, carroll did well up front and defensively from their set pieces.

Deserved the win but they shouldn't have had rodwell off altho hibbert could've gone for his challenge on Adam - a nasty one that.

Penalty aside (defo pen) ref was shit and i feared the worst soon as i saw who it was - today, it actually went our way. Still think he's an appalling ref, mind.

3 points and a clean sheet, happy days. Had the weather been different today I think going down to 10 men would have suited Everton because they normally come out all guns blazing and we pick them off on the counter. I'd have put my life on Dirk Kuyt burying that penalty but it wasn't to be. Fantastic effort from Charlie Adam which hit the bar before half time. Cracking strike from Andy Carroll for the opener and the persistence of Luis Suarez finally paid off with the 2nd.

I don't get some of the bitching on here even after we have beaten the opposition 2-0, but never mind.

Not for the first time this season a refereeing decision has been wrong - is it just me or are they worse than ever this season?  That being said, we had to work hard for the result and overall I think we did well.

Putting Gerrard and Bellamy on was a good move, a good attacking move, there were great performances by Leiva, Enrique and (dare I say it) Carragher did well too imo.

I think this game could give the team a great boost in their levels of belief, especially for Andy Carroll,  and it is such a bloody shame that, yet again, a bloody international disrupts the schedule.  I hope the team can continue their momentum when they get back.

Great result, and it is nice to see us up to 4th spot for now.

In danger of having a heart attack at any time before our goal. Went mental when Carroll scored, really pleased for him. Man of the match for me was enrique, no one could get past him and he passed the ball well. Lucas, Carra and Suarez also played well. Great to see Gerrard back on the pitch, hoping he doesn't play for England. All in all, delighted!

The bitters will forget it was the same ref who red carded Kyrgiakos at Anfield a couple of seasons ago. In fact he got it doubly wrong that time because he should have given mophead the red instead.
We just got on with it and beat them though as we often do with 10 men.

Loved it when Fellaini had the ball down in our right corner, Kelly was all over him but couldn't get the ball off him, so Lucas just strolls over, no fuss, no fannying about, takes the ball clean off him and rolls an inch perfect pass down the line. It was the nonchalance of it all that made it sublime to watch, in a kind of "let me show you how its done Martin" kind of way

The red card saved us from being sucked into the annual hoof and slug that is the Goodison derby. Don`t know why we fall for it each and every time.In a perverse way it was good for us that we did`nt go up before ht:this meant we would have to pass the ball,be patient and above all make use of our subs!!

Three points and bragging rights, but today was more a case of Everton beating themselves......not that I mind ,like !!
