2-1 to Liverpool, Bellamy 89th minute winner.
Look up "Odious" in the dictionary and Martin Samuel is the given definition.

Wouldn't it be great to see Bellamy score tomorrow?!

I would be tempted to start Bellamy also.

I think we could get in amongst this lot as they have a lot of tall, slow players in their ranks.

I would seriously consider playing a small, speedy frontline to cause them problems on the break...

_______________Reina_______________

Johnson__Carragher___Agger____Enrique

_______________Lucas_______________

________Henderson____Adam__________

Bellamy_________Suarez________Downing

Sounds good, although I'd play Kuyt and bring Bellamy off the bench for some pace late on.
She'd say, "Would you stop naming nuts!" And Hubert used to be able to make the sound, he couldn't talk, but he'd go "rrrawr rrawr" and that sounded like Macadamia nut. Pine nut, which is a nut, but it's also the name of a town. Pistachio nut. Red pistachio nut. Natural, all natural white pistachio nut.

Wholly against this team selection. Stewart Downing in the centre behind the strikers?! No chance.
Ok Downing on the left of a front three then, point I was trying to make was he'll drop the deepest of out of Carroll and Suarez.

I'd go for and keep it on the deck with a high line with quick short passing and turn their slow big players inside out , but think Kenny will start Carroll as I also expect Carroll to be raring to prove a point after Capellos comments  and maybe Kenny will have Kuyt on the bench after 180mins of international football

Johnson......Cara........Agger.......Enrquie

Three at the back sounds reasonable for this game with two of Crouch, Jones and Jerome playing. Lucas, Adam and Hendo in midfield, Johnson and Enrique as wingbacks, Suarez and Carroll upfront. Kuyt, Downing and Bellamy as alternatives on the bench.

Nice words from Pulis, highly respectful of Kenny as you'd expect of course.

Expecting a very difficult test for us tomorrow, they'll give us problems no doubt but hopefully our overall quality will be a step above them
and we can come home with 3 pts in our back pocket. I'm not fussed about the performance, we know it could be a proper battle, I'll take a stoppage time winner in a dour game if it means we hit double figures on the table.
It's true to say that if Shankly had told us to invade Poland we'd be queuing up 10 deep all the way from Anfield to the Pier Head.

Finally some real football! The last 2 weeks have been fuckin torture.

Can't wait for this, nothing like a cold afternoon at the Britannia! Not expecting a great match though, reckon it will be a drab draw, which isn't a bad result there to be honest.
If he retires I'll eat my fucking cock.

Cheers .... well drilled then .

Just thinking about having Glen with no competive mins this season under his belt and Flanagans inexperience v a physical side , will Kenny go with 352 giving either a bit more protection .But that would leave no centre back on the bench , but were well able to switch to 442 if a centre back needs to be subbed off.

Stoke v Liverpool
PAUL MERSON PREDICTS: 1-1
I'm doing this game on Soccer Saturday and this will tell us if Liverpool will be a threat this year. They've won at Arsenal, but this game is the marker - that's how highly I rate Stoke. Kenny Dalglish will see how far his team have come on Saturday.

A draw or a sneaky 2-1, 1-0 win for us. They've reinforced with Crouch and Palicios. Isn't much but Pulis tactics will make life difficult for us there. They always do.

Not really a marker, IMO.
We're fresh off internationals, we've got a squad that's still gelling and its only the 4th game in.

Too soon to be calling this a title decider or a top-4 predictor or a threat-gauger. He can go back to drinking. If Merson predicted a draw, I'm quite optimistic. He couldn't gamble for his life and I'm sure he's lost money yet again.

can see this happening with maybe the inclusion of coates, think kenny may put him in to take on crouch and take him back out of the fist 11 for a while.
coates with carra and agger around him for guidance should be solid plus i think carra speaks uraguayian so communication will be fine ;)

It will be a good early season marker, along with the trip to White Hart Lane.

We've started well, despite only playing three games, and have looked stronger than in the last couple of seasons. Now we face two tricky away fixtures at places that are notoriously tough to win at (especially for us in recent seasons) and will be quickly judged based on the performances and results. Whether that's right or not, we will either come out of this on the tails of the likes of United and City or we could slip away far enough that the gap is too big to close down. It really could be that make or break in the next couple of weeks.

It's crucial that we don't blow these two away games and come away with a point or two - we need to take at least four points to maintain the good start and good atmosphere around the club. We're buzzing at the moment and need to keep that momentum going. Another four or six points and we're sticking with the top two and also keeping a healthy gap between us and the two north London clubs that will also be targetting the top four.

It's a massive couple of weeks for us.

Coates isn't in the matchday squad, from what I've seen. And it's 'Uruguayan', by the way...not "uraguayian". And they speak Spanish, anyway.

Watched Stoke v Chelsea at the start of the season. Once Chelsea started to go at them, they never really posed any threat to Chelsea. I think with KK's attack philosophy, this could be a bit (just a bit mind) easier than we think.
Stoke pounded us last season because we sat back hoping a hoof forward might lead to a chance. Never worked (surprise surprise). I think a solid 2-0 to us. We have a lot of attacking options, whereas last year all we could do was lob the ball to Torres. They'll need to be cautious of Downing, Suarez, Kuyt, Adam as all attacking players, with Carroll potentially in there to add a bit more menace. Protecting their back 4 could actually tie up the rest of their team. Feeling a lot better for this one that for the last 2 seasons. Felt like gouging my eyes out during this fixture last time around, and was pretty pissed off with their late equaliser the season before that.
