He's more efficient than Hazard though, definitely at this stage of his career.

The same was said about Gervinho before he signed for Arsenal... just saying.

Promising but I can't believe he was given the amount of room he did for his goal against everton.

He's really starting to come into his own the last few weeks. Such a classy player. Very one-footed, but oozes class. Can see a few of the top 6 looking at him come the summer.

As an aside, anyone else think that Fulham are a decent bet for to top the "best of the rest" league? Read they were looking to get Gignac in on loan. If they pull that off I can see them getting 7th place, assuming they don't go on a long cup run.

Ha! Just read this now. Don't think i've mentioned Gignac for ages and then i see him mentioned in one of the first posts i read after said post.

On Ruiz - I like him. I think it's absolutely brilliant and quite hilarious how Fulham have gone from having two hardworking grafters on the wing in Davies and Duff, to then getting in Dembele and Ruiz. Although Ruiz and particularly Dembele have spent a lot of time in behind the front man this season.

Still think his chip vs Everton is goal of the season so far. The one t'other week against Bolton (?) wasn't bad either. Bit of a confession though, the way he plays kinda reminds me of the way i play at 5's (Not quite the same is it?). I never run, am terribly one footed, but score the occasional wonder goal. Maybe that's why I've taken to him!

Not because he's awkwardly handsome?

He's just a classy footballer. We were linked with him when Hodgson arrived but nothing came of it. Him and Dembele would be pretty high up my list of Maxi replacements come the summer. Although Dembele doesn't score enough, but I think Ruiz will have grabbed a few more by the end of the season. I'll probably end up being wrong now that I'm saying it, but I think he'll be one of the stars of the 2nd half of the season.

It's weird, at Twente he was used more as a number 9 - I think. He scored quite a lot of headers and tap ins, and then he comes to Fulham and refuses to score a goal unless it's making the opposition goalkeeper look like a massive twat. He's got that Raul 'scoop' finish down to a tee.

I certainly wouldn't mind him here.

Oh, and I'm just a downright handsome bastard.

Got told i looked like Matt Smith the other day. Got the footballing ability of Bryan Ruiz and the looks of Doctor Who.

Fuck yeah.

Too one-dimensional. Nothing special. Downing has more to his game than Bryan Ruiz. I know Downing is not anyone's favorite right now, but he isnt as bad some on here think. As a winger, Downing > Ruiz. Yes.

Fulham are a really good footballing team, outside the top 6 easily play the best football, and one could argue they play better football than some top 6 teams as well(i.e Chelsea, United), i like what Jol is doing there, they'll soon be climbing up the table in no time.

 ???

How exactly is he one dimensional, i think you mean one footed, and Downing having more to his game is laughable.

I prefer Dembele, both good footballers though. He might lack the finishing he needs at the moment but wouldn't be surprised to see it all click for him at some stage soon, only turning 25 soon too I'm sure.  Unbelievable vision at times that lad.

Ruiz' goal v Bolton is the dream goal, you finish like that past your mate and the bragging rights are yours for a long time. Everton goal was a cracking one too though.

5/4 with StanJames for a top 10 finish.

Compare him to any top 6 player and show me who he is better than?

He is a good player, but at least not better suited to our squad than say Downing. Having said that, I haven't seen him like more than 3 games, so I could be wrong.

The lad was player of the season for Gent in 2009 and then for Twente (where he did incredibly well, if the wikipedia stats are right) in 2010. It was Holland, yes, but he seems the kind of a player that just runs the team. Downing, although skilled, doesn't make that profile. Have to point out, though, that Downing was Villa's player of the season as well

Against us he was nothing more than average but you can tell by just looking at him play that he's got something special

Starting to come into his own the last few weeks isn't he? Love watching him play, but I'd still have to judge him after a full season to see if he's the real deal. I think he gets too isolated at times on the right of midfield at Fulham, I'd like to see Jol play him off the striker and give him the freedom of the pitch. He'd really shine there I think, looking forward to what he can do this year.

as a winger? obviously

as a striker, ruiz easily

in favoured positon, ruiz easily

Ruiz can do things with a football, Downing can only dream of - whether that says more about our Stewart than Bryan... yeh anyone who understands football knows what is going on

Ruiz has had half a season adjusting to a new league and he is starting to show some of his ability and he isn't at the peak of his powers yet like Downing is meant to be.  I think Ruiz seems to have a lot of talent from what I've seen and he also seems to have the self belief to make it work.  Good player.

The chants for Kenny Dalglish that were heard again on Wednesday do not necessarily mean that the fans see him as the saviour. This is not Newcastle, longing for the return of Kevin Keegan. Simply, Dalglish represents everything Hodgson is not and, in fairness, everything Hodgson could or would not hope to be.
