I also get the sense that certain people are waiting in anticipation for FSG to fuck up big style.... Maybe anticipation is the wrong word but I sometimes think they seem a bit too suspicious.

Rightly so after the ownership we've had to endure in recent years. What is it they say about learning from past mistakes?

The Cahill thing was nail on head for me.  The funny thing is I have been saying these for years even when he was scoring goals.  Shit player and always has been, great with his head tho...lol!!

Let my mate in work who is a blue have a listen to that bit, he agreed and couldn't dispute any of it.

well he was on to talk about the ineptitude of the fa and the kick off time for the final, problems with travel etc. obviously jacobs had to get his customary dig in at liverpool "bringing their own ref" in phil dowd and neil just shot him down saying how we've played them off the pitch both times this season anyway.

Can we have Neil as a spokesman for the club please? That was a great little snippet there, and as stated by someone above, the comment on Alan Davies summed up the rights, wrongs and covered it all in about 30 seconds. Here endeth the lesson. Would like to think Alan Davies has heard that and just maybe had second thoughts about his rather stupid little rant.

Another great podcast, not just glossing over the poor team selection (well apart from Rob, but we all love an optimist ;D) and addressing the positives and negatives. I think most of us groaned when we saw the back four, and you could argue that we were proved right by the mistakes that led to the first goal and the performance in the first half in general.

However, the second half was much, much improved so good reaction by Kenny & the staff, and it was a fucking great day in the end!

Centre Back two needs changing to Agger-Skrtel from now on for the final now.

Just listened to this weeks podcast, & enjoyed it immensely. However I was slightly disappointed when the talk was on the structure of the club (the transition between the youth system via the reserves to the 1st team) & one of the guys pulled away from the discussion as it would make the podcast too long, any plans to go into that at a later date (perhaps during the close season, perhaps)?

Not too sure on some of the tactics discussed but can't expect to agree with everything.

Neil's response/request to Alan Davies was absolutely brilliant I thought. Perfect response.

No I kind of agree with you mate.  I always enjoy the Anfield Wrap but I don't always agree with them and I too feel like our first half performance and how bad it was has been over-exaggerated.
But they don't always agree with each other mate and that's exactly why I've loved it from the start. There's no theme, pattern or agenda except that everything is up for sensible and critical discussion including the manager.

Usually download on iTunes and play in the car on the way to work.  Really enjoyed this week's episode, particularly the analysis on Cahill and observations on Brad Jones having the bollocks to impose himself.... spot on guys.  Shame that the sound was so poor on last Friday's pub chat with the Blues as I had to give up cos I couldn't hear most of the contributors but overall this is an excellent Podcast and is an integral part of the week!! Thanks for your efforts.

Or my opinion. Not a personal thing, just find he talks alot of nonsense. I found the rambling about playing Agger at left back because he wasn't fit enough to be just strange.

I'll agree with that, I admire his eternal optimism but I find him hard to listen too after awhile. Some of the things he says are so far off the mark at times as well. The Agger thing being an example, and "it doesnt matter because we won", adds nothing to the debate.

Probably the least knowledgable one out of all of them in my opinion. Some of the stuff he says is ridiculous.

Theres lots I dont agree from the rest, but you can always see what they're coming from- there's reasoning behind their arguments and opinions. Rob is probably the only one I feel doesnt really get the game. Don't like how he calls United Man U either.

But, that's me. Im just one man. Im sure alot of other people think Rob is the best one out of the bunch.

I think Rob is vital for the balance of the podcast though. I don't agree with everything he says but his optimism and leftfield opinions make it enjoyable nevertheless.

Problem with Rob G is he has no balance in his opinion. Just always pro lfc no matter what. Dunno why he is always on - some squad rotation wouldnt go amiss!

The problem with Guttman is he doesn't pander to the tactical savants who need diagrams, a list of stats as long as their arms and a series of diagrams to explain it's only 4-4-2 when he loses.

I don't agree with everything he says, same with the lot of them (what with us all being different people), but without him there are times this season when an otherwise great podcast might have become very bloody miserable and prone to extreme nazel-gazing after a defeat.

Maybe you're right.

Doesnt mean he knows much about the game though. The others on the podcast always come across as being immesnely frustrated with him as well.

Anyways, my point is every single member of the team has made me think about stuff concerning LFC- even if I dont agree with them, I've thought about what they have to say. Rob has never made me think, on the contrary.

With due respect, that's because probably because by the time the thing is out on the monday, you've probably already made your mind up. You'll have seen the match at least once, probably twice by that point. I'd be surprised if anyone expects someone on there to change their opinion (maybe that Sean fella who is coming at it from a managers point of view). People are looking to see their view backed up.

I might be way off on this as well, but I think you can tell with Rob Guttman that he's a little older than some of the others. There's some views on there - and these are the ones that sit perfectly on this forum - that are so obviously coloured by growing up (or growing to understand the tactical side of the game) with Rafa. There's one in particular I disagree with because I don't think the lad is looking for anything other than our football to be exactly how it was under Rafa. Either way, each to their own.

RG strikes me as being of a different generation, maybe Kenny first time around, and that's why he's trying to understand what Kenny's doing and trying to draw parallel's with that, rather than everyone else who I often get the sense are trying to draw the comparison between Kenny's tactics and Rafa's which is what they 'grew up' with.

Sorry to anyone on there reading this is if that's wrong, just the opinion I have when listening to it.

Such a good point Juan, and something I'm very much guilty of myself. I 'grew up' tactically with Rafa, and I constantly reference his sides as well as Guardiola's Barcelona. This is where I derive my personal preferences from in a tactical sense; a high defensive line, possession football, 4-2-3-1, a pressing game, zonal marking etc.

That doesn't mean that this is the only way to play football or set-up a team though. Something I'm trying to get used to with Kenny is his very different style, and it will take time, but if he's successful who am I to question it?
