A forgettable evening at Anfield, but quite a remarkable day in our own version of the Premier League. carlo's late entry had a butterfly effect from top to bottom of the table, while a few more subplots were going on elsewhere. Most directly, carlo now sees himself just three points above a resurgent carraggeriise, in what seems like the only remaining battle for survival this season. It only seems like that, though, as Ole Gunnar and Chakan are both now just one missed entry from relegation themselves. carlo's failure to post on time also saw Kopite1971 climb to the top of the table, level with the defending champion, BoRed. Ironically, there was just one entry this week that was worse than Kopite1971's - that of last week's leader jbdbreds, who not only dropped the points this week, but by being the worst away player also ensured that Kopite1971 got the three points himself. With two games remaining, there are still four candidates for the title, so this remains the tightest finish ever.

Scores:

BoRed v speedydidi 12-7
Carrard v redforlife 8-0
catterfeld v MelwoodBoy 9-9
Heno v ggargi 8-0
Kopite1971 v carlo 7-0
Mivi v jbdbreds 10-6
Ole Gunnar v Chakan 0-0 (no points awarded to either player for a 0-0 draw)

A wins a win at this stage of the season.....lmao

I must admit while sat on the Kop last night, I was actually wondering if my team selection had actually scored even a point, so nice surprise to find 7 points there this morning...:)

Will remember to send a thank you to JDBreds if i win the title.....lol

Anyway, off to concentrate on the Cup now.....:)

I haven't been laughing since I made that late edit for the FA Cup semi. I lost 27 sodding points that day, and it will probably cost me the league title.

Having said that, I should probably point out that, in the PL, you were actually 14 points ahead of me less than two months ago ;D.

As for opponents not showing up, I could dig up the stats, but I can't be bothered at the moment. Not that it matters much, anyone claiming to be the best should be able to beat his opponents even when they do show up. And not lose to the minimal score when they don't. ;)

Bugger it, I couldn't resist checking it out :). Kopite1971 seems a worthy leader, as he only benefitted from two missed entries. You and me both had four opponents who didn't post, though you only picked up nine points from them. jbdbreds benefitted five times, while the overall leader is catterfeld, with six missing opponents, and a total of 16 points from those six games. I have to say, though, that all this tells me that introducing the new rule about having to beat the minimum score was a good idea, as the points picked up against the missing players now at least had some merit, though we'll never know how different the table would have looked if the missing players had actually posted a prediction.

Although ironically the one game I realised I wouldn't have an opponent I tried to play the system and copied someone else's prediction. I copied what turned out to be the lowest home score and it's been the only game I haven't won.

Yes I noticed you went rather quiet that day. I would still be raging about that though i missed a big one myself after all my talk to people of not missing entries

Having said that, I should probably point out that, in the PL, you were actually 14 points ahead of me less than two months ago ;D.

I dont think you should have personally. Ripped from my grasp again.

What do you mean beat their opponents? I thought we were just supposed to put down what we thought was going to happen and not even think about who we're playing? Jesus what a sucker falling into all that shit. Again. Fair play Bo

Well as exciting as the BoRed prem is, the main league is turning out to be a real nailbiter. With only 3 games left to play the top two are seperated only by the high scores table. A big hit by BoRed could yet get him back in, while the others will probably need 3 big scores. Elsewhere the fight for the top 16 goes on and carlos missed entry gives hope to those below

Yes I noticed you went rather quiet that day. I would still be raging about that though i missed a big one myself after all my talk to people of not missing entries

It was a nightmare. I was on holidays at the time, slept until late, and it never even crossed my mind to check the time of the kick-off. Early kick-off on a Saturday, must be 12:45. So there I was, full of self-confidence, editing my post long after the deadline. And then, an hour later, I switch on the telly to watch the build-up and realise I'd nearly missed the kick-off ;D. And to top it all off, it turns out that that was probably my best prediction this season even before the edit. Still, given that I won the league last season when something similar happened to someone else, I guess it's been coming. So yeah, I went very quiet on the mind games since then, don't want karma catching up on me again ;).

What do you mean beat their opponents? I thought we were just supposed to put down what we thought was going to happen and not even think about who we're playing? Jesus what a sucker falling into all that shit. Again. Fair play Bo

Don't know what you mean. I meant if your predictions are good enough, you'd beat your opponent, even if you don't think about who you're playing ;).

Just realised I'd have been top of the BoRed's Cup, too, with those 27 points. Bugger.

There could be up to five places in next year's Premier League up for grabs, so I'd appreciate it if the current Championship leaders could confirm that they intend to participate next year!

Definitely mate!

In the corridors and changing rooms of Anfield I met many people - the great, the talented, the legendary.  I know that I only met one genius.  He was a small, smiling man with a neatly clipped beard.  His name was Rafael Benitez.
