Fish n` chips
« on: August 6, 2011, 11:42:29 PM »
Is there a decent chippy near anfield that sells decent fish and chips?
Tried numerous outlets from chippies/cafes/chinese/mobiles vans etc and i always feel like i may as well have drank a litre of veggie oil, horrible greasy mush.
I know i could take sarnies or a pie, but when you take the lad for a day out, i`d rather make it feel like a day out at the footy and treating him to some decent grub that does not cost an arm and a leg if anyone has any suggestions.

Thanks mate, we like to get there early so there should be plenty of time to take a walk there and back.

Always thought that The Happy Wok on Walton Breck Road was an absolute gem for chips, if you're happy queuing for ten minutes.

Panny's Place

From Anfield, walk towards The Sandon pub, and keep going along Oakfield road until you reach The George Pub, on the corner of Oakfield Road/Breck Road, and turn right.

Walk up Breck Road past the Windermere pub keep Going past The Lutine Bell pub and it's on your right.

From the Kop end to Chippy is about 15 minutes walk.

;D

I was being conservative with the time.

For all I know, MillyB, could be 25 stone and have shares in the local chippy.

Thanks for correcting me though.

Maybe next time, I wont have a sly half in the Charles, and proceed direct to Mr Panny, in double quick time.  :wave

Sam's is a decent chippy, just at the top of Breckside park if you're walking away from Anfield, about a 15 min walk from the ground.

I was going to try the welcome today as recommended by Rigobert, but the lad wanted to go to Pannies again, not the biggest fish, but then again size isnt everything is it :)
Enjoyed them again though, lashings of salt n vinegar and still head and shoulders above the ones near the ground.
Thanks for the other recommendations, still plenty of games to go this season so we will get to try a few more out i`m sure.

The Red Star? The Welcome on Priory Road is a pretty good chippy too.

Made it there (The Welcome) on Saturday as they are not always open before certain kick off times, nice and crisp batter, generous size and large portion of chips.
Thanks Rigobert will deffo be going there again.
