No membership - No ticket?
« on: July 18, 2011, 09:18:48 AM »
Am I mistaken or is Sunderland a sell out on the website (apart from corporate packages). I know its the opening game but it didnt go on general sale - unlike the Arsenal game last season.

I take my family to 3 or 4 games per year (2 adults and 3 children) I work some weekends and it's just too expensive to go to anymore. I am worried that without membership I will not be able to get tickets for any games this coming season.

Membership for my family costs over £100 which would mean going to one less game!

I have paid for the kids to be members at various times for birthdays etc (they are all under 11). I would pay for a reduced price family membership (could never see the point in having 5 'Reds in Europe' DVDs) but this has never been offered.

I see that more money is needed to pay for the players we want etc but to force membership to buy tickets will cost my family games :(

Tickets go on 'late availability' aka general sale 21 days before each match. That'd be next week.

I think you could struggle this season yes, unfortunately. It's a real shame. You may have to swallow the loss of one game and sign up your family to membership. At least you'll still get to see 2-3 games, and given the way they sold them this year you could have got any game bar Man Utd. There's a lot more Cat A games in the second half of the season though, I don't know how they'll administer those.
Spurs, Everton, Arsenal, Chelsea all second half of season.

We all went to the United game as it happens - (we had the two games on our fan cards that were required)

What a game - memories - may there be many more.

No doubt they'll be asking for payment at the start of December, just when we're all supposed to be spending our cash on Christmas presents!

Golden wrappers of Willy Wonka chocolate bars will be the only other way next season mate.

£29 for a one season members card is a disgrace.  Would rather see us have (slightly) less clout in the transfer market than our supporters have to pay that. And I'm a STH.

Seriously I think they'll be a slightly greater uptake this season as supporters with a bit of wedge take advantage of the new bulk buying system, plus the buzz that's around the club at the moment, but I can see future sales dropping back closer to normal levels again. Unless we're flying in the league of course!

Even Membership won't guarantee you tickets mate. Under the old system as a member I used to be able to get tickets to most games and usually was able to get in the Kop 305. This year I've managed to get one ticket between now and Christmas - a restricted view main stand ticket for the Norwich game. Luckily I know someone so am sorted for aways, but the new ticketing sustem is a load of bollcks, complete waste of £30.

All this madness with tickets is really dicking me off. I just managed to get a a restricted view for Bolton Wanderers and got charged £44. For a restricted view in a terrace end! And I'm supposed to be happy that I actually got one or something. Sheesh.

How did you only manage Norwich, for instance Bolton & Blackburn are still on sale for members... and every other game has been easily obtainable (Except Utd and maybe Sunderland),  :o

Or mine. Maybe my Internet connection is shite, but had no joy on the phones and took me best part of a day to get onto the online sale, at which point there was hardly anything left. Under the old system I would have missed out on that particular game, now it's a case of missing out on a half a season.

Where you can blame this is on the fact that supporters for years have asked for accountability within the ticket office and where tickets are sold. Paper tickets were rife for touts. Now by requiring any Liverpool supporter to join, this means LFC will be able to know exactly who uses the tickets through the smart "membership" card.  If you've got a mate who lets you use his card and you pay for the ticket that way, then your in. But this means those with cards are going to need to be extra careful about loaning them out and getting them back. Still chances for people to get a "ticket", it just means that the club has more control over the process. And i wouldn't get tossed out if it's not your card..;)

Phoning seemed to be a waste of time last week....and as ever a rip off  !   :butt  IE You get through and are told you are paying for the call, then it takes around 45-50 seconds before you get the Press 1 for home games -  Only to hear that all operators are busy, please try later or alternatively buy online !!  :wanker

I counted 38 calls on my mobile from last Friday, but managed to get tickets online  for both Manc teams by 9.50am ! It was harder to get a ticket for Manchester City than Utd - With the screen telling me several times that the game was "sold out" if I didnt select a restricted view in the main stand !   :-\

On Thursday last week it took me around 1hr 45 mins to access the page to buy tickets.......If you look at it logically they are selling tickets for several games, and you get the 30 min slot to buy what you want which has a knock on effect.

Just wondering what the criteria will be for  the likes of Chelsea and Arsenal at home come the next members sale November/December time ?? Especially as 2000 ST`s have been made available.

Another thing is why do they have to sell members tickets Monday - Friday ??  Anyone who works and hasn`t got internet access at work is at a massive disadvantage.

What happend to the good old days when you could send in postal applications ???   ;D ;D

i find the membership fine, for the sake of £25 quid for renewal or whatever it was, i managed to get myself tickets for man u and city this week, without any problems at all. But i do appreciate the family side of it, as an individual or group of mates buying memberships to go to games its great, but if your having to fork out for 3,4,5 memberships for the kids and family its a different story.

The main problems as I can see are

1) money - not enough time to prepare, but in the future (if nothing changes) we will be able to plan ahead
2) if you cannot invest time on a few days in July and November (i.e. you are on holiday etc. etc.) you lose the chance for the whole season

Other than that, as far as myself and some people I know, we have managed to get to every game we wanted. Equally we managed that with the old way of selling as well.

Maybe a good idea to have a poll and see what the consensus is on how the new way of selling went. For me the actual website worked far better than last year - maybe I was lucky.

Not sure what you two lads have been up to because I only had 6 credit on my fancard from last year yet managed to get -

Valencia
Sunderland
Bolton
Wolves
Man Utd
Norwich
Swansea
Man City
QPR
Newcastle

so Far. Are you sure you have been about when the tickets first go on sale or have you been casually strolling in expecting lots of tickets available mid afternoon? If you want the best tickets you need to be reay to go for the 8.15 start and have at least 15 separate windows open trying to connect.

yes, well the point is, half the season is now unavailable if you miss that tiny window of opportunity. I tried when the tickets went on sale, couldn't connect and ended up missing out and digging around for the scraps. How is that fair on the fans?

Membership scheme is great, got every game. Seems like marmite, people either have a great experience and get exactly what they want or they say they can't get in at all or only able to get restricted views.

Sometimes you have to use a bit of savvy and understand that having one window open that refreshes every 15 seconds to try and get a spot that thousand's are competing for is pretty unlikely. I was there for the 8:15 start and got every game I wanted to attend. Seems fair to me at least.

I have to agree, the actual system itself technology wise is a huge improvement on what went before. Ringing is pointless, the auto refresh window system is a lot less infuriating and easier to handle. As I've moaned about before, what annoyed me with this system is how there was a drop from 13 to 0 for all games. I think it should be staggered in a similar way to Man U home.

Still, I managed to get tickets for most of the games I wanted. Really looking forward to New Years Eve in Liverpool. :) :wave

Exchange basically means they will deactivate your fan card for that game and active the person who buys the ticket. Easy.

I am hopefully travelling up to the united kingdom from australia in October and was hoping to realise a life long dream of watching liverpool play live at anfield, its seems due to this new system that will never happen. I emailed the club and asked if they they have any special tickets for foreign fans or some set aside as i had heard that in times gone by that used to be the case. All i got was a reply to join membership and try my luck there... We may not live in the uk or liverpool but we also fans non the less. GUTTED

Bollox to that, I have been in 304-306 for the last 21 matches but have had to take 1 in 109 and 1 in the MS for Sunderland, 4 singles in 202 for QPR, 5 in lower Annie Road for City and for Man U, 1 in 208, 3 in the MS and 2 in Annie Lower.

It is complete pot luck if you are able to log in online or not regardless of how many windows you have open.

The phones were worse then ever as well, I just hope that our IT department do not run a check on the phones for the most dialled number last week  ;)

Couldn't go online as I was after Adult & Child ticket which is only available on the phone.

Spent ages last week trying to get through, finally managed it last Thursday afternoon only to be told that as I bought the child membership 6 days ago, I couldn't use it.

Tried again on Monday morning..guess what...couldn't get through...finally managed to get my call answered a t 12:30 by which time only Blackburn on boxing day was availiable..the rest were sold out.

Oh joy...supply and demand I guess... lets hope we hear plans about a redeveloped Anfield/New stadium with 65,000+ capacity soon!
