Fordy your agenda against Aquilani is beyond sad.

Which is ironic given your tasteless comments about our '35 million' man

Too many of you are more concerned with point scoring than what's best for the team
If you can't trust Kenny, you need to find another club, seriously.

ITS A PRE SEASON GAME.

Pre season means fuck all.

Yes he had a decent game against a poor team. Cole was MOTM in the mid week game - shall we all rave about him now?

Seriously this thread is a joke.

Yeah lets support AA and all the players but lets not act like fools that go OTT about meanless games.

How about 09-10 then when Aquilani had more assists per minute for Liverpool than any player playing in any of the top Leagues in Europe.

He is a class act and for me the best bit of today was him getting dumped on his arse by a ridiculously late tackle but playing on and sliding in Insua with an inch perfect pass in the build up to the 4th goal.
One thing does need to be said: in the post-Benitez era, there was media-led clamour (but also some politicking going on at the club) to make the club more English; the idea being that the club had lost the very essence of what it means to be ‘Liverpool’. Guillem Ballague 18/11/10

I'm not going to support you on this one Fordy. He's our best player from pre-season so far, and will be a retarded decision to sell him, simple.

Aquilani is almost as complete as Gerrard. They are a class above Raul or Adam.

PRE-SEASON IS ABOUT FITNESS - THE MATCHES MEAN FUCK ALL.

You don't get extra browny points for being the main man in pre season.

Like I said for me Joe Cole was MOTM in mid week, AA today - However big fucking deal on both fronts.

Well, at least he deserves a chance with us, doesn't he? We all know how his first season went, and when his time came last season, Roy fucked it up.

Play him in any pass and move team and he'd be fuckin brilliant!

It probably doesnt matter a lot, except for the fact that 22 players played, and we looked pretty toothless without Aquilani's efforts.Adam was the only player who came closest to matching him.

Fair enough comment, it was against inferior opposition in a meaningless game. However, if he played poor I wonder if the same rules would apply? Doubt it. People would be calling for his head.

What I like about him is that he's always moving the ball and shifting himself into space. He gives you something that no-one else has in our squad - the desire to make the ball do all the work. He is deadly in the final third, more akin to a Wenger-type playmaker than one we're used to having. A far better proposition than Meireles if you ask me.

He's still a footballer.  A footballer that played today and played well.  I know there can be a bit of hysteria and it is only pre-season, but we can still watch these fellas and see what they're capable of.

Point is, he looked a class act and when one of our players does, fans have a right to be optimistic about it.  Not a joke at all.

Just some of the over the top comments , Cringeworthy.
I'll admit I have a , shall we say 'Different view' of the player but come on.

You've been busy telling others to "be positive" and not to moan about players, and yet here you are saying it's embarrassing because people would actually like to praise one of ours for a very very good performance. Slightly hypocritical, don't you think?
I trust the King, but if we lose a few more on the trot now - he may have to step aside, and we have to purchase another manager in the middle of the season. If we are relegated, this could be the end of our ambitions to win any title the next 100 years.

To be fair, with Aquilani's injury record and Gerrard's recent injury woes, its not unthinkable to have five top centre midfielders fighting for 3 places (with two of them entering their 30s).

Adam vs. weaker sides for sure. His passing range is nuts and he will utilise Carroll and Suarez's movement.

Aquilani is your ball retention player who will add fluidity and intelligent passing vs. the big teams.

Quite a few of them are hypocritical, im pretty sure those saying its against a poor team would have been grilling him if he didn't have a good game saying its time to get rid no?

Fact is some have an agenda and will be talking all year even if he stays and plays well that its time to get rid and he is only play for a move etc...

I cant think of many people who could have done this,be it a preseason against a 5th tier team,or a league game.Aquilani and Adam belong to the Gerrard and Alonso mould of passers, who can wreck havoc.Like it or not.Give Aquilani space, and he will destroy teams.Same with Adam.If we keep Aquilani,we'll have a hell lot of options.

Aquilani plays the quick pass and move game well, he shown today when he was under a bit of pressure in the middle that he's got the ability to pick a man out.

Add Suarez and Gerrard in instead of Shelvey and Maxi/Kuyt and we could see some brilliant football when the season gets under way.

It was a pre-season game but the lad showed that he can do the simple things and do them well.

What and your not?

Fucking hell - AA has a good game and you come out with the fan club acting like little girls watching Take That at the Echo.

Big deal he had a good game. So fucking what - He is a 17-20m player - I think he should have more than 1 decent game, don't you?

Fordy, you don't like him, obvious to see, I admit that I do like him, was one of my favourite players when he first signed for us because he showed that he has a touch of class in his play and he'd thrive in a pass and move system.

If you don't like him then stay out of the thread so we haven't got to read your bullshit about how much you don't like him.

ITS A PRE SEASON GAME.

Pre season means fuck all.

Tell that to Dirk Kuyt who celebrated his goal like he'd won a medal, or the tens of thousands of fans that turned up to the match.

It's about having pride in your team. Aquilani clearly bossed the game and it's a showcase of what we can expect from him. I've written on the boards countless times about Aquilani's ability and what he can bring to the team but you're stubborn, mate. Your opinion is beginning to mean fuck all because your agenda is clear as day against the guy.
