The most memorable car my dad had was a mk 1 capri in silver but due to working at Aston Martin and then Tickford (he was an engine builder and test driver) he used to bring home some really nice stuff occasionally.

Drove all over the country in one of these in the 70's and 80's. It was classed as near to luxury back then!

On Top Gear they talked about a website that shows how many cars are left in the UK (registered or sorn'd). Theres 1 Tickford Capri left now according to them.

I saw a Tickford Capri yesterday at the Newport Pagnell carnival! The Tickford owners club was there with a Tickford capri and a RS200 bloody shame if its the last one, lovely cars

The memorable bad one was:

Result of a Buy British company car policy.

A dark turd brown Austin allegro...just awful, dire, dreadful

Look away now

A White Peugeot 504 estate, three rows of seats so my mum couldn'tugh  hit us in the back.  Had small holes in the floor so we could push stuff out of the floor of the car.
Fucking hell lads, I thought we had shite cars but they are pretty damn awful.

A Ford Granada and a Rover 600, looking back, followed by a string of company cars. He still says those are the two favourite cars he's owned. That said, he now drives a T-reg Galaxy and a Polo.

My dad loved cars and had lots of different cars during his lifetime (probably why I love cars also) but these are the first 2 I remember he drove when I was a child.

Often seen these on the roads and behind goal mouths in the 70's : The Invocar.  Provided free for disabled drivers and if I remember right they didn't last long , very dangerous.

Think my Dad was a car fiend and then became Conservative. He had some really quick Allegro (if that can be believed) then changed it for a Renault 5 GT Turbo. What a car. I would love one of them today. He then changed that for a poo brown Lada.

LOL - my Old Man had a Green Lada.  Shocking it was.  It was a massive upgrade when he got the brown Ford Cortina!

A pea green Lada was what my old man had when I was learning to drive. We called it Sherman cos it was akin to a Sherman tank. Fucking awful car, my brother refused to get in it for a while after it was bought.

A Cossie and a T5R? You were spoilt! Absolutely fantastic cars. I have been in the back of an unmarked police T5R and that was scary. I am on the hunt for an old car to do up and the Cossie, Renault 5 Turbo and a Scirroco are high on my list!

My old man had one of them too. If I remember right he had a yellow mini before that and Mk2 red Escort after it. Followed by a blue Fiesta and then a Metro, or it may have been the other way round.

My dad's 1st car after we came to England was one of these:

Then he got one of these in sky blue....

....it's 1.3 litre engine had all the power of an asthmatic snail!

The first car he bought new was a white Nissan Stanza with an all red interior like this:

Horrible!

You mean the red interior of the Stanza?  Yeah, really hideous.  Even as a 12 year old we took the piss out of him when we saw it.  Soon got used to it though.
