Regardless of whether or not we choose to pay attention to Bascombe, the info about Aurelio is, at worst, hardly the wildest stab in the dark.
It's a shame that we're likely to lose such a talented player this summer but, as has been mentioned earlier in the thread, we're just not benefitting enough from that particular asset.
This raises a good point - even at a time when you could argue that we'd benefit from using Aurelio at left back and giving Enrique a breather, we're so low on options in midfield/wide that we need the security of a cotton wool-wrapped Aurelio sitting on the bench and ready to deputise.
I'm sure his Anfield career has been very frustrating but we shall all remember Fabio fondly - he was an important figure in the best Liverpool side I've ever seen and gave us/was part of many highlights during Rafa's tenure.
The question of whether we replace him (via the market) or not is interesing. We've obviously not seen much of Robinson this season but Flanagan never fails to impress me - if you consider him as third choice right back and Johnson and Kelly as able deputies for Enrique on the left, then I think we may as well save our pennies, trust in the five full backs we've got, and let Flanagan and Robinson rack up some important game time in the cup competitions before Christmas - if we get an injury to a senior and/or development isn't quite as anticipated, then we can investigate the market during January.
