I'm fucking spoiling myself with these trailers, but I can't fucking help it. Easier to quit smoking.

I'm gonna hazard a guess, space ship with a handful of humans lands on another planet, encounters an alien life form that kills everyone bar one protagonist...

How am i looking?

Apparantly a lot of folk scoffed at this and shot it down in flames when it was first put about the web and it states at the bottom of the link that it was "confirmed to be fan fiction" but when the trailer came out it was reposted and certainly some of what's there seems to be in the film. Make of it what you will or don't look at all if you think there's a chance it might spoil the film:

Well if that's the case then I'm glad. Although strangely, reading Ridley Scott's interview in Empire today has put me off a bit more rather than whetted my appetite. I just don't think I'm going to be able to buy into this ancient civilisation/higher intelligence story. And just some of the stuff he said...it's like he's spent too much time watching bad History channel docs.  :-\

Sounds like a great idea to me.

As he said - if you'd seen Alien then how could you not wonder what that ship was - why it had all those eggs - what the Space Jockey was and what else could lie out there. Once you have one thing then what lies beyond?

I read it yesterday. Sounds really cool to me. I'm more excited about the fact he got them to build HUGE sets for this thing. The visuals will be incredible I think.

Did make me think though: Ridley Scott is 74! I hope he really makes the films he wants to make in the next six years or so because don't how many of his style movies he'll be able to make in his 80s.

Just watched the trailer and to be honest i'm not filled with optimism.

The first two films were such cult classics that this was always going to get much attention especially because of the director.

But i think a lot of people are setting themselves up to be disappointed.

Don't think many people will complain much about the visuals.

The first TWO films? Really?

I'd say the first one was a classic.

The second one was a romp.

Ah, i know where your coming from but look up Rotten Tomatoes and IMDb

First one was a classic but second was far from a romp... many would argue including myself

Aliens is a classic but in a very different way from the original. Its reputation suffers from being a Cameron film but he really nailed it back then and it was THE defining 80's action film, regardless of genre.

I still prefer Scotts original and it is one of my favourite films of all time but I never tire of watching either movie and despite the very different styles, they work really well when watched back to back.

I kind of agree, I loved James Cameron's film. If Alien was a ghost story, Aliens was a war film in the same universe. Immense both.
Aliens is one of the great sequels imo.

Aliens (second one) is by far the best film of the lot. I have the box set and love them all, but that's the one I watch over and over. And just to throw this in there, a lot of people actually believe that we were put on this planet by aliens, is that really so absurd? We could be a little play thing for beings with advanced technology.
