Seems to be very lively and quite pacey too. Is that just because he's so young, or is he likely to be the same in 5 or 6 years time?

NB is it "5 or 6 years/year's/years' time"? which

Fun Fact: In Lucas's first season at Liverpool he scored more goals than Xabi.  Lucas has it in him, Henderson has hit the post repeatedly this season with some brilliant shots, they'll both come good.

He scored once in his first season against Havant and Waterlooville. Good goal it was too....but he didn't score more than Alonso.
In that case, I'd play Meireles, Lucas and Poulsen. Spearing would get absolutely marmalised by Yaya Toure. At least Poulsen can kick him.

Genuinely rather excited to see where this lad can be in a few years time, given where he is now.

The lads got a great future at this club and he's only going to get better. He's a very continental type of player, measured passes and smartly retains the ball. He'll definitely be useful in a pass-and-move system; to be honest, I'd love to see him play with Jonjo more when the time is right, I reckon those two would make a good partnership.

Ah, yes, you're quite right.  It must have been assists I was thinking of, which looking at the stats is actually correct.

Can't be "year's" if it's 5 or 6 years. The (slightly weird when you think about it) suggestion is that the time is owned by the years so it would be "years' time".

Got a great engine hasn't he.

Aside from the lad's clear footballing ability his attitude is absolutely spot on. He's got that quiet determination about him. You can tell he wants to become the very best player he can be. Model professional.

He's not extremely quick off the blocks, but when he's going, it takes some to catch up with him. A bit like a turbo-engine car, needs to rev up before he gets going.

He's got a fantastic engine which has been really evident over the last few weeks.

He is growing in confidence alot, even since Gerrard came into the side he is still trying to dictate and make things happens. You can see him getting the ball from Gerrard and trying to get us moving forward.

I am still unsure of what will become of him, much like Lucas when he first started to show good promise. But he's been one of the bright sparks this season.

Non-stop machine.  Was quite nervous when he went down, then thought he was probably just getting a breather.  He's been running since the Bolton game.

It's interesting the amount of people that still don't rate him. Even some "respected" posters on here, though they tend to keep out of this thread nowadays.

For what it's worth, I don't even think that was one of his best games for us. He's quietly become a very important part of our system though.
I'm really hoping Sturridge busts out the wacky dip when he scores.

Only downside to tonight was when he failed to show up in the box after Carroll won the ball and put it straight on the penalty spot. But aside from that, pass and move is the name of his game. And he's got a mean fucking engine in him. Forest Gump with wind defiant hair.

Was a brilliant bit of play just ever so slightly over hit. He's hitting passes like that with regularity now. Just need to get a better tackling game and he'll be fucking brilliant. Positions himself well and works his bollox off. Just the one weakness holding him back from be a top class player.

Seems like the match is starting to slow down for him a bit.  Early on, he spent too much time on the ball thinking about where to pass, now he is playing more instinctively, first time passes and the like.  Should only get better with more time and confidence.

As others have said, his attitude is immense.

He's definitely got aspects of his game to improve, but the bolded bit is the most important attribute - he'll continue to improve because he wants to and puts the effort in. He's a lovely footballer though and will be some player if he continues on this trajectory.
"My coach told me to warm up just before the break. He told me I was going to take care of Kaka. Top, top player. So cool and composed - classy first touch, great vision: but crucially, knows (like Lucas) when to play it simple and just calm things down. Mouth watering thinking our midfield could be Lucas, Henderson and Shelvey in a few years. All compliment each other perfectly, and each has their own stand out attributes.
"He worshipped expertness of any kind. He loved his work passionately and had no tolerance for anything save for other single-track devotions. He was a master in his own field and felt no sympathy except for mastery. His view of the world was simple: there were the able, and there were the incompetent; he was not concerned with the latter."

Seemed to be stuck under his feet when he played it though to be fair to him, did very well just to get it off.

But I agree, off the top of my head, he's played in:
Gerrard vs N'castle
Downing vs City
Bellamy vs Wolves

And pretty sure he played one against Bolton too. Probably many more I've decided not to remember too.

He's definitely a player, but not in that role.

Everything he did tonight had a touch of quality, but plenty of his game showed a lack of understanding about what exactly a player playing just off the front should be doing.

Absolutely love this guy. He has so so many talents, very rarely gives the ball away. The one thing I want him to try and work on is those gerrard type bursting late runs into the box to get a few goals. That will hopefully come with confidence

Completely agree. I think in a midfield 3 he is more suitable to the link between the DM and the AM. He can pass, he can run and then arrive late in the box, he can press, defend etc, etc. I don't think he is that good as a support striker. We could have done with a midfielder this window, but thats not for here anyway. I think if we had to play someone in the hole today, Maxi or Bellamy in that position with Downing wide, would have been better. Maxi doesnt press that much, but Bellamy does, however Henderson did cover hell lot of a ground today.
