Plenty of fans are still rather disappointed with Mascherano with the way he left since it's been said he refused to play vs Man City because he wanted a transfer to Barca. If it's true...I don't know...but it's a fucking distraction to have to fight off a great team like Barca for your best players who's heads will no doubt be turned and who we need to stop us from declining even more. I'd wish Barca would look somewhere else.

I vaguely recall reading something about this back then...So this was after the transfer rumours were in full swing or before?...And the City match, was it a cup or league match?...Not a friendly?

Not for sale.

At any price.

our opinion? We hate Barcelona's negotiation tactics where they try to unsettle players, then lowball the team with the offer, keep unsettling the player, until they get the player to either hand in a transfer request or force a sale at a below value price.

On the flip side - most of us love Barcelona's playing style.

I guess I'm confused about how, if true, that this is the norm or that it has happened multiple times

Either way, both of them work.

This.

If a Barcelona negotiator turned up at Liverpool/Melwood I would hope they gave him the same treatment King Leonidas gave that messenger guy in the movie "300"

Fuck off Barca.
Isn't everyone who could Negotiate a transfer in the USA now ?
Suarez had no right to score that one but then again he is Suarez and he doesn't give a fuck.

So he was already looking or set to leave a season earlier?

He wanted to move the season before yeah, something about his family not settling IIRC, but Rafa talked him round to stop for another year. Then Hodgson came and decided it'd be a good idea to keep him around until the very end of the window, when he wanted to leave and the manager he respected most had gone, and allow you lot to come in with a shite offer we couldn't really refuse.

This is the Agger thread though, so that'll be all!

There'd been rumours for a while that Barca wanted him and obviously it turned his head.
Was a league game I think. Quite an important one obviously.

And I agree...Agger thread. No more Mascherano talk.

I mean seriously how the fuck does he do it? How is he so fucking brilliant that his brilliance makes everyone play better?

He'll leave and we'll replace him with one of Swanseas centre halfs because they're more suited to Rodgers style of play. Now I'm off to work for caughtoffside....

I, personally, blame Javier's transfer squarely on Purslow/Hodgson for not letting him leave earlier in the window (after he just reluctantly spent another season here for Rafa) and getting a bigger fee.

Idiots.
You're spot on there. It was a fucking shambles and designed to paint Masch in a poor light.

Barcelona can quite frankly do one. How about they go about paying off some of that substantial debt they have racked up or help Spain's crap economy. We would only sell Agger for 20m and Barcelona aren't loaded.

Didn't Agger recently state that he wanted to extend his contract at LFC?

Worry not.

With the amount of talent coming through their youth system it's a shock they need to buy anyone.

Unsellable.
Suddenly I turned around and she was standin' there
With silver bracelets on her wrists and flowers in her hair
She walked up to me so gracefully and took my crown of thorns
"Come in", She said, "I'll give you shelter from the storm"

I wish.

Agger told Danish website, Sporten.dk: "It's no secret that I'm happy to be in Liverpool. Otherwise, I would not have been there for six years.

"I have not discussed a new contract, but if they come with an offer I will surely sit down and talk with them.

"It's not something that is urgent, for I have contract until 2014, but if they ask I will listen."

Meanwhile, Agger admits he's relishing the prospect of working under his new manager Rodgers when he returns to Melwood for pre-season training later this summer.

"I am looking forward to meeting the new coach," he added. "I've seen what he has done at Swansea, and it has been impressive."

He aint going anywhere.

Really hope we don't lose Dagger, one of my favourite players and such a classy lad to boot. As much as everyone would prefer to see him to go to one of the Spanish two, I don't like how they do business and I don't think we'd get anywhere what we as fans would all consider reasonable. Get him tied up and offer him big wages because he loves this club and he'd be worth every penny.

Would love to See Agger play a full season like Skrtel did, the guy is Quality and that partnership is key to our success.

As much as I rate Skrtel, Agger for me is key to our success.

If we can keep Agger fit and if we possibly lose Skrtel, I think he could make a less experienced defender than Skrtel look acomplished and comfortable on the pitch.

He is that good.

Daniel Agger few days ago "i'm very happy at #LFC. if i wasn't i would have left long ago, New contract ? club will decide about it"
Liverpool manager Rafael Benítez admitted after the match that the manner of his side's victory had stunned him and he stated: "My problem is that I don't have words to express the things that I feel at this moment"

Hes our future captain and the club has to do everything to keep him here.

We must keep at any expensive, he has the quality of penetrating into the midfield and he is among the best centre backs in  the world on the world. No surprise Barca want him.

According to this girl who went to trainings yesterday in Boston, him and Enrique are the "Nicest" players in the squad.

Looking forward to meet DAgger in Toronto tomorrow.
