The Honduras international is aware of the Anfield interest.

Voted player of the year in Scotland this season after a series of outstanding performances, he admitted he would be interested in a move south of the border.

“This is flattering to any player, that Liverpool shows an interest in your services. I still do not know anything - I have left everything in the hands of my agent and club officials,” he said.

http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/news/Liverpool-Newcastle-transfer-news-Reds-offer-4m-for-Jose-Enrique-but-Magpies-want-15m-Liverpool-could-turn-to-Celtic-Izaguirre-Wigan-Figueroa-instead-article740819.html

Have to say he's looked really impressive whenever I've seen him, but it's a big step up from that level imo.

For now, they were always going to play hardball to try get his price up. Think Enrique will leave Newcastle, probably to us, for around £7million.

I trust the King, but if we lose a few more on the trot now - he may have to step aside, and we have to purchase another manager in the middle of the season. If we are relegated, this could be the end of our ambitions to win any title the next 100 years.

Fixed that for you.

Just because we don't want to pay £15m for Enrique doesn't mean we have £25m to pay for Coentrao.

If he's an alternative to Enrique, we'll be getting Enrique.

This is because Mike Ashley is a money grabbing twat, and knows that if he doesn't sell now he will lose the player for nothing in a year's time. Same reason they'll be selling Barton (and I don't mean to us btw!)
I'm really hoping Sturridge busts out the wacky dip when he scores.

Watched a fair bit of Celtic this season and Izaguirre is excellent going forward.
Really supports the attacks well and can whip in a good cross.
Also has enough tricks in his locker to beat a man.

However, I would have pretty serious concerns about his defensive ability.
He tends to wander around a fair bit and because he is supporting the attack so much, he can often be caught way out of position.

He gets away with it in Scotland because other teams lack the ability to capitalise, but it would definitely need a lot of work for the PL.
Still, there is definitely enough talent there to mould him into a very fine all-round left-back

Honestly, I know we don't have to fill our squad with all world class 'gallatico' players but is anyone else a little worried that all we seem to be associated with at the moment are these good/ok players. If we are going to be pushing for CL next season and show some intent I can't see the players we are being linked with getting us there. Are all these players going to improve the squad we have that dramatically? I know its early, very early still, but fuck me am i completely underwhelmed by all these connections. All the top targets are also linked with clubs with Europe next season.

Please god don't let us not being in Europe backfire on us so early on before the season even begins.
Wrong on two counts. He didn't give himself a ten match ban. And this thread is about calculating the ban not about selling Suarez. In the spirit of your post I'm giving you a ten day ban for detailing the thread. It's completely out of proportion but you did it to yourself. I take it you won't be asking for it to be reduced.

I've heard his name quite a bit, but never seen him play.
Is highly regarded by all accounts, according to what I've read here and elsewhere.
Would he cost a lot? If he's that good , I doubt Celtic will let him go easily.
Where would he rate/how is he different to Enrique?

http://www.clickliverpool.com/sport/liverpool-fc/1213435-celtic-left-back-emilio-izaguirre-flattered-by-liverpool-fc-interest.html

Emilio Izaguirre admits that he finds Liverpool's reported interest in him 'flattering'.

Kenny Dalglish returned to his native Glasgow in February to observe the Honduras international during Celtic's 3-0 win over Rangers, prompting suggestions that the 25-year-old could move to Merseyside this summer to fill the left-back void.

And whilst Celtic have no intentions of selling Izaguirre, who won a hat trick of Player of the Year awards in his first season in the SPL, the player revealed that he has heard of possible interest from Anfield.

"It is flattering for any player of course, when somebody like Liverpool shows an interest in your services," he told La Tribuna.

"I still do now know anything, I leave this in the hands of my agent and club officials."

Pretty much the same as the Mirror article, I suppose.

Edit: This transfer window will tell us exactly how we are regarded in Europe and see how much clout we REALLY do have. Fingers crossed hey.
