As someone who in the past has been given good information from an excellent source inside the club (no, not anymore so don't ask me anything) I can say that everything that we try to do doesn't always happen - so people can share things in good faith, it doesn't always come off. Doesn't make them a bullshitter.

People can choose what to believe, but I personally don't think Tommo is a bullshitter and I'm inclined to think we are going to make moves to try and sign Aguero, and that it might be a possibility. No point getting your knickers in a twist about it either way though.

Thats pretty much my take on it - people who imagine that because we are interested in bringing somebody to club that means they will definately 100% be arriving here are deluded, talking to a club and signing a player are worlds apart.

Personally don't see anything wrong with a link with Defoe, Adam or any other player  "ordinary player" - you'd think y'all wouldn't be so quick anymore with the "he's not LFC material or not good enough" label since the Lucas, Meireles, Spearing, Jonjo etc

Every team and gentlemen it is a "team sport" needs the "worker bees, the grit players who without fanfare do their job and put a shift in" ....we've done the superstar 2 man team think ....lets try being a "squad" for once eh?! :wave
Defoe isn't better than Kuyt, Carroll or Suarez. As we're looking to sell some of our attackers, it's not because we need squad depth at any cost, we need squad depth with quality. Lucas, Spearing and Jonjo were young (and nobody ever said anything bad about Shelvey as far as I know) and I was pleased with the Meireles signing. As FSG looks to strenghen our squad with a lot of money - something that hasn't been done properly for many years - it would be stupid to begin signing players who are as good as or worse than the players we are letting out. We want a good squad, yes, but good squads consist of good players. We are Liverpool, we should go for the best talents or the best players. Defoe is a 28 year old attacker who has scored 4 goals in 21 league appearances this summer. That is not what we should go for. The only reason we were a superstar 2 man team was because we didn't have players of Gerrard's and Torres' calibre in the rest of the positions (obviously). If we had that, we would've probably won a lot more, but we couldn't afford it back then.

We won't be signing Defoe, its a pointless conversation... Every other department of our team has areas of concern that above of our strikeforce.

I think we'll put in for Aguero. But I think it'll be for a reasonable price, with us selling him the move as a project. We wont be getting into silly haggling with other clubs.

He has to want to come here. If we can sell him "Liverpool under Kenny" then we have a chance.
All the badge kissing in the world don't make up for the fact that they are, frankly, not Liverpool Football Club. It's not their fault. Its just how it is.

The fact that he signed a new contract specifically to lower his buyout clause, and now the Chairman is going on about how he's going to stay, makes me believe that they are definitely going to be inviting bids.  Of course, i doubt they'd accept anything less than £35m (his buyout clause is about £39), but I'm almost certain they'll be seriously listening to any offers.

Found this but a journo who normally gets it spot on said something similiar to this:

Quote
Gazetta - Juve prepared 30 mil for Aguero. The other eye is on Benzema,Dzeko,Tevez
As reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport ", next week there will be a new contact between leaders Juventus and Hernan Reguera, attorney main Sergio Aguero. Juventus would be prepared to shell out € 30 million cash for the Argentine striker and the offer - report from Spain - would come to Atletico Madrid on Wednesday last. "But we will not negotiate with anybody - said President Cerezo al Mundo Deportivo -. Who wants Aguero must pay the termination clause. "The clause is 45 million, a figure unattainable for Juventus.

Those who could afford such an investment is Real Madrid, Mourinho would like to ensure that driven by the performance of "Kun". According to the Milan daily, however, just the 'White trap' could persuade Atletico Madrid to "encourage" Agnelli and Marotta. Alternatives to Aguero are always the same: The black and white dg continues to hold in your viewfinder Karim Benzema, Carlitos Tevez and Edin Dzeko.

An important window of opportunity may open especially for the French striker. Florentino Perez has already said no to Juve at the famous lunch at the "Bernabeu", but the cold relations between Mourinho and Benzema could facilitate the leaders Juventus, who will attempt a new assault at the next meeting, scheduled in early June. More complicated tracks that lead to Tevez and Dzeko as immigrants. The Bosnian striker, however, is still a ball of Marotta and Agnelli, who hope to bring it to Turin with the formula of the loan and subsequent right to sell out.

and there is a video apparently of Aguero in Turin last week with Sissoko:

Quote
New Update.

17:13 - Jose Segui, representative of IMG - the colossus that manages, among others Sergio Aguero and Momo Sissoko - has left a few minutes from the headquarters of Juventus. E 'then finished the match between the agent and the leaders of the Spanish club. We are waiting to pick up any rumors about the long conversation.

16:40 - An important update from Corso Galileo Ferraris: a few moments ago he arrived at the headquarters of Juventus, also a lawyer Michele Briamonte, a member of the board, but especially the man in the house of the contracts for Juventus. And 'the man who studied the papers, which prepares the legal point of view also market operations. The fact that the lawyer is Briamonte Juventus at the site the day of the tour agent Aguero and Sissoko may be a coincidence, given that black and white, however, the lawyer is also involved in other hotspots, such as the television rights. According to Sky Sports, however, the hypothesis is that Juventus, at the moment, trying to understand the condition of the contract with Atletico Madrid for Aguero.

16:10 - A few minutes they arrived at the headquarters of Juventus Andrea Agnelli, the president and board member Pavel Nedved, to participate in the interview with Jose Segui, the prosecutor of Sissoko but most of Aguero. The leaders Juventus and the representative of IMG (accompanied by two assistants) are meeting inside the building in Corso Galileo Ferraris for several hours. It speaks not only of Momo Sissoko, but also "El Kun". However, the attacker will not be easy to reach Argentina. The operation Aguero, in fact, entail a double deal: either the agents of the player, but especially with Atletico Madrid, which has included a very strong out clause to let the player leave. As reported by Sky Sports, however, Juventus and is being treated. The deal, in fact, is open.

15:37 - In the headquarters of Juventus, in conversation with Marotta and bulkhead, there is only José Segui. Together with the prosecutor Aguero and Momo Sissoko are two other people. Right now I'm currently testing to see who they are. One of these could be Hernan Reguera, an official who follows more closely El Kun Aguero, for the contractual aspects, both in terms of relationships with other companies. It 'still a significant fact that Jose is not alone follow. It could be the confirmation that the leadership of Juventus is even really talking about the situation of Argentina and the attacker not only to Momo Sissoko.

15:20 - As reported by Sky Sports a few minutes ago, at this time in the Juventus headquarters in Corso Galileo Ferraris is an ongoing meeting between the leaders Juventus and Jose Segui, representative of IMG, which manages Colossus among others Sergio Aguero and Momo Sissoko. The Argentine striker is one of the goals of the Juventus forward for the department. Aguero has a very high out clause with Atletico Madrid, but always according to Sky Sports may open a negotiation. It must be said however that there is also the location of Momo Sissoko to be clarified. Surely then will follow with José made the point also about the state of Mali midfielder, which could be one of the players that will leave Juventus. But then it is clear that the conversation will move on Sergio Aguero.

It's in a right state at the moment. If he knows what's good for him, he'll move to a Premiership club or another Liga club than Atlético.

It looks almost certain that he won't be plying his trade with them any longer.

I'd sure as hell would like to see him here, no doubt bout that, but jeez, with this buy out clause he won't be cheap.

Do we really need to make a Marquee signing like him now, whereas we need to upgrade in more important areas, Is the question. I don't think so.

His buy-out clause doesn't apply to England, it's only for Spain.

Are you sure? I was under the Impression that the buy out clause stays there irrespective who or from where the buyers are.

Clubs from other country's will probably have to bid close to it to enter into negotiations I would imagine though.

It's only for teams in Spain, and it isn't really a buyout clause anyway.  If a Spanish side met it, if Atletico didn't accept it, the player could go to court and buyout his contract.  This would result in a VAT increase of 18%.  Basically buyout clauses in Spain are little more than gentleman's agreements between Spanish clubs.

If I was dealing with this, i would play it simple. i'd meet with Kun, and basically just say.

We cant compete with what City or madrid will pay you, we just cant, but here at liverpool, we dont play for the money, we play for the badge, the club, the supporters, we want players here who do that, who will have that bond with the supporters, and sergio we believe thats you,we believe that you can fire this club back to glory, back where this club BELONGS, so heres our offer.....

I trust the King, but if we lose a few more on the trot now - he may have to step aside, and we have to purchase another manager in the middle of the season. If we are relegated, this could be the end of our ambitions to win any title the next 100 years.

I didn't think Juve had such financial capabilities?

Exactly - sorry lads, we errr, we can't afford £13m for Aquilani so can we have him cheaper? By the way, we're going to sign Aguero for £30m to play in front of him.

It exactly sounds like after your graduation from a good school, your friend who dropped out of school in the knowledge he had a 'business plan' and the family backing ('club history' in our case) is now struggling in his business can't offer you a competitive market value and is trying to convince you about his project which to a neutral's eye is obvious fail. I would reject that offer every time, so would you why should Kun Aguero take it?

Having said that, we have the muscle to offer top wages, in that case it will be like your mate trying to offer you market salary and the option to reevaluate your career in two years time if it doesnt work out, in which case you might think and well, our friend Aguero might think too.

Of course they can afford Aquilani, they're bargaining to lower his price.
