Adam has plenty of that. Doesn't make him good.

Reading that piece by Tangerine Dreaming or whatever his name was, IŽd say Adam is not a very confident player. Dwells on mistakes and let them affect his game.

I would have considered playing him Saturday, but definitely not now.

Needs to shut his fucking face and get on with it in training, not moaning and having subtle digs on Twitter like he is one of the innumerate bellends that populate this site. He's a kid for fuck sake, wind it in.

Feel sorry for him. Would have better to let him stay at Blackpool.

I have no doubt he would do a better job than Adam if given the chance. Hopefully we will find out against Wigan but I have a bad feeling he will be on the bench again.

Exactly! Had a decent spell at a championship club and thinks that gives him the right to undermine his team mates on twitter.

How was he undermining his team mates? I checked his twitter account. Didn't seem to be anything bad but maybe he deleted a tweet?

He just said he needs to pick himself up and go again.  Surely not getting picked week after week that's a fair tweet?  He can't have the best morale right now but all he's saying is he'll get himself ready and go again.

It was a pretty brainless tweet in that he should have known that followers and the media would jump on his back about it.

I feel he was being genuine though. It's pretty much a message to himself to try and not be disheartened and pick himself again and go again. It's not an entirely bad attitude to have considering our results and the players being given a chance ahead of him.

It's better than an ambitionless player who gladly goes to sit on the bench and I'd be frustrated had I been him too. Did great things at Blackpool, then gets recalled to sit on the bench or not even there. The only way he can imrpve is on the pitch, be it at Blackpool, at Liverpool or at Barcelona.
It's just sex and violence, melody and silence.

Love Jonjo and I think he has bag loads to offer to the club, but doesn't seem the type to stick around if it doesn't go his way maybe?
Fuck it, I'm taking me dog for a walk. The pair of us are completely bollocksed and take turns a piece dragging one another along. We look a bit like one of Roy's midfield pairings, but with a wee bit more guile and panache. Well, on the dog's side, anyway

I think he's ego is one of his assets. Just look a how fearless he is out on the pitch. Would definitely start him against Wigan, let him take some of the anger and disappointment to them. Don't blame him at all for the tweet.

Find it hard not to warm to him. He is a bit cocky, but it's personality, and it's something that's missing from some of our players.

fuckin immature and unprofessional.

I can understand his frustration....and i can understand being annoyed at his situation...and his young age can excuse that sort of behaviour.

Lets not forget that, even though he is about to turn 20 this week, Shelvey has been playing on senior level since the age of 16. He is definitely not getting enough chances, especially considering the injuries that we've had in central midfield this season, and the poor form of some of the players that Kenny has been playing in that area.

Hope he can get a game soon, as some players who are given starts are not earning their place in the team, that should always be the way.

He probably shouldn't tweet about it though, and knuckle down to training, that is a PR thing and many will disagree I'm sure.

I hope this is sarcasm. When I remember Gerrard at the same age, his self belief and his arrogance were one of his greatest assets, and probably what has made him such a great player.

Oh get off your high horse please.
He is rightly frustrated because players taking playing time from him are one step forward - two steps back and all over again this entire season. I hope someone will give him proper playing time before he becomes another victim of LFC's Youth developing strategy 'All talk - no action'.

Someone actually dying to get a chance and play, unafraid and ready - why would we need that.

I feel sorry him. He obviously has talent and the will to win.Heck he played for the first team at his last club, i can fully understand why he is fustrated - Kenny keeps playing players who are not performing and he isnt ringing the changes. So much for competition for places.

Which was my point.

One player is young, keeps passing it backwards, doesn't have any self belief, hides for 75% of the game and runs around alot= plays a huge majority of games

Another player is young, tries different things, has huge amounts of belief, attempts to be creative= is frozen out.

Go figure.

It's not that he's not playing for us which is the problem.

The problem is he is not playing at all, either on loan, at reserve level, or first team level. It's like we have told him you are not allowed to play football anymore.

Go on loan to Middlesborough? No mate you can't
Play in Nextgen competition with reserves/U19s? No mate you can't
Play instead of Charlie Adam who's gone downhill? No mate you can't

How so?

The lad started 2 games for us since his return from Blackpool and got 1 goal and 2 assists in those games, and been frozen out sine January 6th/7th while Adam has been stinking out the place and Hendo has been anonymous for the most part.

Not to mention Jonjo could have had a hattrick at Villa Park had Luis and Adam passed him for a tap in.

Well, he attacks the box, same as Maxi, same as Meireles...none of them are fancied...hmm :-X

he must be pulling his hair out at lack of chances.

On a serious note, i think we have another Pacheo on our hands. We all think hes class, most games are crying out for him, but he never gets the chance. I hope to god we start to use him, otherwise he will rot and be 'another failure' that we bought.

Would live to see him start against Wigan, come on Kenny, put him in.

why exactly is he rated so highly here?

if you look at his position as central mid then by his own inflated opinion of himself he tries retarted things.i remember against united when he chipped the ball from near the half against united.we need players like lucas, henderson, raul etc in the middle.people who keep the ball ,effortlessly moving it when required.can he do that?

the arrogance is something you want the players trying to unlock the defense to have.eg-suarez.try the impossible no problem.but such players need a little bit of dribbling skills and a good turn of pace.shelvey has neither.

isnt that the one Kenny praised him for? we were behind, creating fuck all, he saw the keeper off his line and gave it a go. If he had pulled it off i guarantee you would be pulling him off over it.

If he got the same amount of game time as charlie adam has surely he would have improved? he couldnt do much worse than charlie and even if he did its experience for him and he would learn from it, he can keep the ball well and has good range of passing and a bit of confidence about him which is good for a young player no? obv he would be frustrated and not playing football which is his job? but saying things like that over twitter maybe be a bit daft but hes learned from it and wont be doing it again in the near future.

Yeah the guy is 19 though and Dirk is a full international with Holland, who has given us 5 years service. If you are 19 and training with the first team, don't go on twitter and moan, even if you feel aggrieved. I hope he plays more myself.

Should start every league game from here on in IMO. What have we got to lose? He doesn't do too well, so what he goes back into the reserves.

But maybe, just maybe, he ends up looking like a very, very good player, improves us and saves us from spending a shit load of money in the summer on a new centre mid.

Another month ticks on and still no minutes on the pitch. 19 or not his age is not the issue. He is good enough to start games and it frustrates me that we took months to get him on loan, we recall him back and hardly use him. He needs to develope.

Then people have a dig when he makes a light remark on twitter.

If you go on twitter to bitch about not playing - that doesn't show a lot of respect for those who've been selected to play ahead of him.

Nothing wrong with thinking it privately and taking it up with the manager in his office, but don't say to the world i should be playing i'm better than them. Respect the person with the shirt!

Nothing wrong with that, knock on the managers door and have a set-to. Don't act all hard done by on twitter.

Also, if he's that good and ready to add what we're "severly lacking" - why did only championship clubs show an interest in having him on loan. Hmmmmmm.....maybe our manager isn't the only one who doesn't think he's quite there yet.

I'm sure your right though!
