Great post. Wouldn't it just be poetry for it to be Kenny that restores us to our perch?

If/when we get to no 19 the celebrations will even blow away how we all felt in the aftermath of Istanbul. The thought of it being Kenny at the helm when it happens brings a tear of joy to my eye just imagining it. And if anyone thinks that sounds a bit gay i couldnt give a fcuk !

Some trivia: last time we played BCFC at home and beat them 5-0, the player who got the hat-trick was......?

Late to the thread and It's bound to have been answered already but must be Gary Gillespie in 1986. First game I ever saw us win (at the third attempt).

Awesome team effort today.

Just a bit disappointed for Luis that he didn't grab one for himself.

Got into the pub a bit late so missed the first goal.  ;D  However I couldn't stay because the so obviously pro-Brummie commentary made me want to puke.  The minute they snuck even close to our box and it was "This is better now from Birmingham" or it was "Far too easy there"; "Plenty of pressure from Birmingham but they're not making the most of their chances"; or my personal favourite: "They fought their way back from 2-0 down against Sunderland".

Made my fecking blood boil!  You'd think we'd scored five jammy, counter attacking goals completely against the run of play.  Never mind the Brum made some hideous defensive mistakes - they were pressured by our players into making those mistakes.  Not an ounce of flipping credit though! I'm really disappointed 'cos I missed the last two goals.  :no

Great result today and in all honesty I thought we played within ourselves quite comfortably. It’s great to see we can see off games in this simple fashion with a couple of the youth lads in the team and I always sensed we could shift though couple of gears if necessary. The whole team seems to be buzzing at the moment with a confidence that didn’t exist at the start of the season and we seem to be peeking at the right time.

Special praise for Dirk Kuyt who I thought was brilliant again today. He really has been excellent since Kenny’s been at the helm; long may it continue. Fifth place is certainly achievable now and we must continue this form against Newcastle on Saturday.
Liverpool was made for me and I was made for Liverpool.

Hated the "Well, it was a mistake of their own making again" billshit.

Anyway, they can try to get on our tits like they've been doing these past 20 years, but we're back, baby! Our club is united, our boss is back, we're looking to have a core of good British players again, our youth policy is in full flow again, we've got good owners, consensus, good coaches and that "Liverpoolness" all around!

Our aim is to knock Manchester United of OUR fucking perch!

Fuck these!

Can you knock kit off for a while Paul. The chap believes we are currently better without Carrol. It's a fucking opinion mate. No need to shit all over him.
You're the most negative person on here, always looking to have a pop at others. Take a minute and have a word.

Are you being serious? I'm the most NEGATIVE poster on here am I? I think there's a fair few people who'll tell you 100% the opposite and otherwise, so kindly shut up with the unwarranted slagging off. I've not even posted on the main board regularly for ages anyway, so not sure why you've got a tit on with me?

Am I allowed to ask the lad why he thinks we are better without Carroll or disagree with him because in my 'fucking opinion' I think he's wrong? Or is that 'having a pop'? Or has this post above come from past argument I had with you or something? (probably has).

Get in! I had a feeling we would hammer them today.

The last few games are starting to remind me of the end of the 08/09 season where we played our best football of the season (and very nearly won the PL).

I think some people just like having something to bitch about. The doom and gloomers love to come out when we lose, but when we win they hide. We were fucking shite this season... look at the turnaround!

I'm very impressed with our young players. Maxi's received a lot of criticism from a few this season, but has shown why he can still be considered a valuable squad player. Kuyt's having a renaissance and Suarez looks brilliant.

Great match, real team performance, everyone did well today. Though sometimes the movement in the box was a bit sloppy and rusty. Could have easily had 8, but i won't complain :D

Great for Maxi, was one of the players referred to by others as deadwood I hope to stay. Shame for Luis though, really wanted that goal and deserved it for his effort. Really unlucky in recent performances not to get one.

But cheers to all players, all stood out for me today.

Great TEAM performance with some outstanding individual performances but it's the team cohesion, joy, movement, pressuring that pleases me most (well, and goals of course). this team has the best team spirit i've seen in a liverpool side for fucking years.

in 2008/9 the team had a great winning/never say die spirit on the run in and was great to behold. but this team just revel in joy for each other with and without the ball. sounds like a pussy talking, i know, but you could see how frustrated luis was not getting a goal but his sheer elation for maxi says it all really.

another demonstration was when joe scored and his muted celebration - the lads rallied around him giving him due plaudits bringing a smile to his face. my take on it was joe was muted as he knows he's not a major player in the side at the mo and is probably aware the fanbase aren't exactly waxing lyrical about him, but the lads got around him (specially carra seemed to be having a few words) bolstering his spirit.

could be reading it wrong but fuck, we just won 5-0, i don't give a shit

been waiting for us to batter someone goals wise, we've done it play/game wise but it's great to get a shitload of goals to hammer the point home.

Just got back from Anfield. I'd posted, a few days ago, that a high scoring game was never on the cards as I said that Brum have a stubborn defence and generally are v difficult to break down. I take it all back. To be fair, Birmingham were very poor and were on the back foot from the off, but well done lads - great game and great result. I was really nervous about this game (as I was about the City game), but the new sense of confidence and the attach-minded approach are clearly there and I needn't have worried.

The passing and movement was superb. And when we lost it, we hunted the ball down in packs headed by Lucas, who was my MOTM. Although everyone was superb.

Onwards and upwards.

Now the Mancs might win no19 this season. But fuck'em.

If someone had told me in September that we will finish the season fighting for 5th, playing real pass and move football with the King at the helm, that c*nt and c*nt will be swindled in an epic manner, that our new owners would smash our transfer record twice within a week, with the best set of young players we've had for two decades, then quite frankly I would've pissed myself laughing. The reality is that this season looks like ending much better than we ever could've dreamed off.

We are coming up the hill.

Spot on mate... couldn't have put it any better myself...

To sum up:

The youngsters played like Warriors. Lucas answered his critics with a loud PISS OFF! Kenny should be knighted for at least five separate reasons and 'arry might have a heart attack when he watches Match of the Day.

Good performance. Third goal in particular was boss, great movement from Suarez, Kuyt and Maxi.

hard to believe that we havent beaten birmingham in the league for a long time before today

One of the reasons is that they are a very organised and disciplined team. They are very difficult to break down and it is hard to find space in behind, which makes the ability of the Liverpool team to create so many chances all the more impressive.
