The choice no man should have to make. A year now in the Championship with Sam Allardyce, or a year at the bottom of the Premier League with Neil Warnock?

Spurs? Proper turn up for the books.

Can't wait til they get Cole as well. Harry really is the king of short-term planning that leaves the club with a crippling wage bill.

Sounds a bit like Roy when he was here.

'Arry has way more form for it than Hodgson, or even Purslow. 'Arry wrote the book on it. Then he shredded the book before the authorities had the chance to check it.

I wanted him before we signed Henderson and Adam, and think he'd be a very good option alongside/back-up for Lucas. One that  we might not have in the squad (although Spearing might be that player this season). But the problem would always be his wages and price which I don't doubt would be too high for it to make sense. Still rate him highly, he's a fine midfielder.

He'll go to Sp*rs, make 40-60 apperences over 2-3 seasons, then be moved on. Might make another 10-15 England caps, and maybe make a Euro squad, and will be forgotten by Spurs fans. He could have stayed with West Ham and been considered a legend in another 3 or 4 years. As it is, he'll be remembered fondly as a quality player who gave the club what will probably turn out to be his best years, but ultimately went to play for the Saggy Faced c*nt.

Between the West Ham board and 'Arry, I'd think it's a safe bet that Parker isn't the villain of this piece.

Perhaps he's just a decent guy willing to drop his loyalty bonus which he realises would be undeserved with him choosing to leave?

No I meant regarding him staying to be a legend - smacks of him not exactly being given the choice.

Highly doubt that. He would of done the request earlier.

One of the owners sons son's tweeted this morning that he dad was still trying to keep Parker. I would guess that the West Ham board are making the move harder than Parker thought hence the transfer request.

I'd guess it was a case of Parker being fine staying at West Ham, but preferring a move. No point handing in a transfer request when you've no problem staying, especially since it was so blatantly obvious that he and West Ham would listen to offers

Got to be on the list to retain that award this season.

Brilliant signing by Harry Redknapp. Spurs have moved up another level this season, and look the most likeliest to catch United and City, and Scott Parker has been at the heart of it.

The excuses on this board last summer for not signing him were ridiculous. 'Not good enough', 'Adam is better', 'Big fish in a small pond', 'Too old', 'Doesn't fit in with the new owner's transfer policy' etc... If our transfer policy isn't about buying players who would improve our first team, then it's a shit policy. What we wouldn't give to have Scott Parker in the midfield now. When we were signing Adam I posed the question what would happen if Lucas got injured? The worst happened and we were caught short.

The guy is a class act and Spurs are reaping the rewards. There is a fantastic balance in their side, and great fast-moving, flowing football.

Redknapp gets alot of shit on this board, but he has done brilliantly at Spurs. He has made plenty more good signings than bad. Scott Parker included.

It'll be a farce if David Silva doesn't win it. He's doing well at Spurs, but Silva is comfortably the best player in the league.

It has to be Silva or Van Persie, the two of them have been comfortably the two best players in English football for the last year, Parker can fuck off, very good player but the hype around him is fucking ridiculous. Brave brave brave.

good post.

Despite the potential minor glory involved winning the CC this year, the general situation  and performances of the new squad members have been disapointing - it is a rather predictable situation we find ourselves in and I agree Parker would have been a very useful signing

Englands best central midfielder for me ( gerrard for me is an attacking midfielder). But it should van persie and no one else not even silva, van persie is single handidly stopping arsenal from becoming a midtable team.

I would probably give it to van Persie ahead of Silva, at this present moment. He is carrying Arsenal.

Hart, van Persie, Silva, Parker and Toure would be the shortlist I'd imagine.

When was the last time a United player didn't make the shortlist in one of these things? Don't think they've had any standout players this season.

He isn't the best player in the league of course (my vote would be Silva), but a really good player none the less. Wanted him in the summer, and as Ciara says above, we sure could've used him this season. I have no idea if we weren't in for him because he was too old, or because we felt we didn't need him, but I hope we never stop considering players because of age only.

Resale value is one thing to consider, but experience and playing at close to ones peak is too. Parker have only gotten better with age, and if there's a similar defensive midfielder around Europe, we should be in for that player, even if he's 30+. Makes perfect sense to have experienced back up, when your first choice is only 25, and the rest in that position are kids in the academy.

Toures form is vastly overrated, he has had some stinkers this year and seems to just not bother tracking back at times. On form he is a great player but he hasn't been as consistent the media will have belive, most city fans would say barry has had a better season.

Football without fans is nothing.

We've won 18 titles, 5 European Cups, 7 FA Cups, but today must be the greatest victory of all.
