I'd be curious to know how most supporters living abroad go about purchasing their kits. Online or through local shops?

I am from Australia. I purchase them through the LFC online store. It is cheaper then buying the shirts from stores over here.

Name me 1 american sports club that was founded before 1892 or thereabouts.

The St. Louis Cardinals were founded in 1882 as the St. Louis Brown Stockings.  Much like Liverpool, their colors changed early on, but they are the same organization that exists today.

New York Yankees. 1901.
That's a decade later. The poster I was addressing said "Most of the oldest clubs are as old if not older than established football clubs" which is not accurate.

wow, well this is kind of unexpected. Seems like they've never actually made football kits before so will be interesting to see how they look like...

So why the comment about Adidas and Milan?
Because you asked a poster what Milan had to do with his suggestion that Beckham only signed for Adidas teams after the mancs.

If anyone is interested, in the US, it's quite difficult to go into a shop (other than a specialty "soccer" shop that mainly sells equipment) and get an LFC jersey, or almost any football jersey.  Most sporting goods stores carry very few if any football tops (more around the World Cup of course).

In my local mall, we have both an Adidas and a New Balance store.  The Adidas store has, at most, 5 LFC tops at a time, all Gerrard (they used to have Torres), not much choice in size, and very little if any other LFC merchandise.  I've been in when there was staff that wasn't even aware it was there.  They cannot put other names/numbers on the tops.  The New Balance store sells high quality running shoes and some running clothes with well trained staff.

U.S. sports realized the money game since early 70's. So there were a lot of changes since then, its not like there are no old clubs, but not a lot who are successful. Plus, Football doesnt realize it, but the system of relegation is what keeps teams so competitive and builds a culture amongst fans, that is so lacking in US sports that the lower team owners, IMO almost always take undue advantage of fans, play one or two good players, others lame and still play in the same league, year after year and earn a lot of money!

Morale of the story, seriously, nothing like Football!!!

I'm excited about the money.  I am sure Warrior/New Balance will be financially motivated to create a good kit.  If research companies know Liverpool sells around 1 million shirts/yr, then I'm sure Ayre thought about quality when pursuing a new kit manufacturer.  Now, let's get some awesome players over the summer and march towards No. 19.

Also, can't wait for the hopefully 35+ million Coca-Cola deal.

Yeah well he was trying to suggest Adidas had something to do with him playing for only Adidas sponsored clubs

Yet to see about "most of the oldest clubs".....

Nine teams were established before 1892 (some by 20 years) and 7 more were established around the turn of the century.  So 16 roughly around the same time or before.

Maybe I am misinterpreting this comment:  "Name me 1 american sports club that was founded before 1892 or thereabouts."?

8 baseball teams were founded before 1892.  Not quite sure how I am screwing this up.

I'm not sure why so many are assuming that because they are an American manufacturer, the kit will look cheap or won't honor a classic aesthetic.  Take the Detroit Red Wings sweater above--it hasn't changed... ever.  Detroit is one of the most iconic brands in hockey, if not all of North American sport.  I believe CCM made it before Warrior.  If Warrior, who are just breaking into the market, had changed that sweater, not only Red Wings fans, but most American and Canadian sport fans, would have noticed and protested.  I think we shouldn't jump to conclusions.

spot on, the Red Wings are the best team in hockey, and an equivalent of LFC, their captain Nick Lidstrom is a big red by the way....

"Lovin' Liverpool: When it comes to soccer, his loyalty is to the club at Anfield.

"Favorite soccer team growing up, yeah, I've always been a Liverpool fan," Lidstrom said.

A trip to Anfield is on the bucket list. "I'd love to, never been. A lot of my friends have gone," he said."

Jen Chang tweeted some info:
JenChang88
Times reporting Liverpool have signed biggest shirt deal in UK history - Warrior Sports will pay £25M a year from 2012-13 to make LFC's kit.
Background on Warrior for those in UK unfamiliar with brand - it's been till now a hockey/lacrosse manufacturer & subsidiary of New Balance.
Parent company New Balance had revenues of $1.8 billion in 2010. Deal with LFC possibly an offshoot of NB's own recent deal with Red Sox.
Previous biggest UK shirt manufacturing deal was the £23.3M that Nike pays Man United (contract expires in 2015 I believe).
With no debt to pay off, I'd guess this puts LFC's annual spending power of around £65M net, without including CL revenue or player sales.
That LFC transfer figure of £65M/$107M is purely hypothetical on my part using very loose estimates (once upon a time I worked in finance).
Actually I goofed, think it's prob closer to £53M/$87M a year for LFC, but a very loose approx, would need to do a DCF for real estimate.

I want to know why Adidas couldn't cough up 25m when some small company no one has really heard of overhere in the states could.

How can the largest ever shirt deal in English footie history be 'Bad News'? Seriously the only thing I can figure is from some misguided 'purist' perspective, which is fair enough, but it means you are not allowed to be even slightly happy if we sign a Hazard type player. You have to shake your head and say 'I would prefer Pennant in Adidas'.

Warrior is trying to enter the football market.  In order to do that, they are paying through the nose to get a big, worldwide name to get it's brand on chests all over the globe.  Adidas has a lot of clubs on their books.  Perhaps they were willing to increase the contract, but not match the money and other incentives that Warrior was willing to offer in order to lure Liverpool.
