i think i've just put on a stone.  Poppadoms, with all different dips, some kind of lamb curry, rice, chips, a pint of coke, and keema nan bread, which has some kind of meat inside it, which was so large it could have been mistaken for the table cloth.  Then complimentry bailys and after 8 mints.

How many miles must i walk to burn that off?  i feel fit to explode.
3500 calories to lose a pound, 14 pounds in a stone so that's 49000 calories to lose..

Say 300 calories a mile, that's 163 miles.

That seems an awful lot to lose a stone?  I must have ballsed that up somewhere surely.

But on that note, I fucking hate the efficiency of a human body.

Try getting a machine to lug 14 stone around a mile for only 300 calories, it would laugh at you..... It would laugh even more if you asked it to extract it from one low calorie tuna sandwich.

Damn you evolution and all you glorious metabolic efficiencies.

How come a few of you are under 12 stone and are still looking to lose weight? Wouldn't you just want to start toning up or something?

Yeah, it's more like 100 calories to a mile when walking (depending on your size/weight).

I'm not disputing the science but I lost three stone last year and definitely didn't do 500 miles when running. Probably not even 300 miles. I don't think that accounts for a change or improvement in diet.

I'm starting to lose weight. I just have no idea where I'm losing it. I'm skinny apart from a beer belly. Down from 11stone to 10.8 when full or 10.5 when I haven't eaten. I'll start taking one protein shake a day. Slow progress but then the plan is to get rid of the beer belly by July. Hope I'm not losing muscle right now.

They are fucking mental.

Has anyone heard of the Rushfit training videos by Georges St Pierre? Some similarities with P90x I think, although more martial arts based.

A bit bored of the gym routine and fancy something different to be honest. My brother in law has been using them and has lost about 25 pounds.

I'm on day 6 of the Cabbage Soup diet. It's awful. And probably ineffective as I'll put it all back on next week. I'm doing it more out of curioisity and to support the wife who wanted to try it. I went from Sunday-Wednesday without eating any meat, felt prettty weak and feeble all the time to. Today I'm allowed as much beef as I like which has tasted like food of the Gods. A nice fillet steak awaiting me tomorrow too. Big weigh in tomorrow, as sad as it seems I'm fairly excited just to see how much I can lose in a week.

Good lord how long did you keep this going?

What? Press ups will burn minimal fat in the chest area. You can't spot reduce fat. Cardio of any type (preferably running or HIIT) will eventually burn those boobs away. Just doing constant press-ups will get you to a point where they start to have no effect.

Debs weighed today and has broken a significant barrier in her weight loss/ fitness battle but she is hampered by her fibromyalgia. Jess is staying the same but she needs to become more active.
My in-laws have lost 1.5 stones each in just a month following my simple menu plan.
when we saw my GP today she was really interested in getting hold of some of the menu plans for some of her patients in the Wellness Clinic who need to lose weight.

My son is doing Crossfit as part of his rugby training and I have to say, given my initial reluctance, that it is a very good way of getting fit and strong. Some of the guys and girls there are incredibly fit and strong and have little or no body fat....

How the fuck do you loose these bastards.

Fat comes off your whole body as you burn it, you can't spot burn ie. sit ups don't just burn stomach fat and push ups won't burn chest fat. The best thing to do to lose fat is to build muscle, the more muscle you have the more fat your body burns all the time, even at rest.

I'm not saying get big, just some resistance training will help, burns more while you do it and the extra muscle burns more continuesly.

I'm not any way of an expert but that's my understanding of it. :wave

You don't want anything too carby or fatty at this point. Something high in protein for satiety's sake. Chicken or Tuna would be decent with some green veg, maybe a small sweet dessert afterwards to help stop any cravings.

My fitness pal for iOS, android and Blackberry is brilliant.

You can scan the barcode of anything you eat and it will give you all the info on it. You can set yourself calorie goals and then search for items that dont have a barcode.

Its been a brilliant tool for me. Also has a social element to it, where you can link up with friends which can help for motivation.

I have been using it 10 days and its been really good. First diet where I have actually measured weights of pasta and rice to make sure I keep it right.

I don't need to lose a lot of weight, but its certainly helping.

You can also add any exercises which then gives you back calories you can have.

What's the issue? Not wanting to eat something heavy because it affects digestion/sleep? The notion that food after a certain time is more likely to be stored as fat/not burnt off?

Would cycling on the exercise bike, say 100k a week help shift belly/chest flab? I don't eat much, just sit around a lot, which is probably why it built up. Last year I used to cycle a lot and was quite slim.  I'm 6.1 and just under 12 stone so not fat, just got some unsightly tyres and hints of man boob now :)  Would dumbbells help build some abs as well?

I've lost 5kg so far. Not a lot but its a start, clothes feeling a bit looser which is a good sign.

Just done my first couch to 5k session. Quite liked it considering I hate running  :o

Stick with it mate it works wonders. When I started it I could barely run for 60 seconds and thats no exaggeration. I'm on week 5 now and on the third run I will be doing 20 minutes in one go. Which for me is astonishing.

I don't need to lose a lot of weight, but its certainly helping.

You can also add any exercises which then gives you back calories you can have.

I'm on that. Its great. There is nothing like random yanks telling you how great a job you're doing.

It should do. Any cardio is key to fat loss. A walk where you keep your heart rate at around 30%-40% would suffice, although the exercise bike or a run will burn more calories as well as reduce fat. You'd have to say whether your diet's alright or not. You may be fighting a losing battle if your diet is shit, that's the more than half the battle.

non of the as I'm not too worried about weight as I do enough exercise to keep it in check.Just wanted a nice healthy snack.

I'd stick to things that are easy to digest in that case, if you're eating late - salads and fruit and veg, rather than stodgy, filling things.
