Future of Poulsen uncertain
« on: March 31, 2011, 05:04:35 PM »
This is my first try at starting a new topic, so mods, feel free to change or correct anything you want. I've searched the forum for any news about Poulsen without finding anything, hence I make this new topic.

I just read on a Swedish football web-page that Christian Poulsen's future in Liverpool is quite uncertain, as the manager of Denmark, Morten Olsen, urges Poulsen to concentrate and get more playing time at club level. If he doesn't, he won't be playing in the national team either, even though he is the captain. All of this is yet an other sign that Poulsen might leave this summer (unless he gets more playing time, that is).

EDIT: After having a further look at it, I found this in the daily mail:
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-1371684/Christian-Poulsen-desperate-depart-Liverpool-preserve-international-career.html
Quote
Christian Poulsen desperate to depart Liverpool to preserve his international career

By John Edwards
Last updated at 1:25 AM on 31st March 2011

Christian Poulsen is desperate to quit Liverpool this summer after being warned his international career could be over if he remains on the fringes at Anfield.

Despite being captain of Denmark, the out-of-favour Liverpool midfielder was left on the bench on Tuesday night and given a blunt message by national coach Morten Olsen.

The 61-year-old said: 'I don't know if he is going to get in the Liverpool team during the remainder of this season, but if he isn't, he will not be in my squad for the Euro qualifying game against Iceland on June 4.'

Poulsen has struggled to win over Liverpool fans since being signed by former manager Roy Hodgson at the start of the season.

While there is interest in Poulsen in Italy and Spain, he could remain in the Barclays Premier League by linking up again with Hodgson at West Brom.

What do you think ladies and gentlemen? Does Poulsen have a future in Liverpool or is it the best for all parts if he leaves?

Ps. English isn't my native language, so sorry if I've made any mistakes.

I'm absolutely certain of his future.

He's gone in the summer. Can't wait for him to go either.
I trust the King, but if we lose a few more on the trot now - he may have to step aside, and we have to purchase another manager in the middle of the season. If we are relegated, this could be the end of our ambitions to win any title the next 100 years.

He doesn't have a future here unless he improves a lot. 2 managers now that have given him a try and eventually dropped him, And it would be best for both club and player if he moved on.

Wont be captain for too much longer.

IF Agger can keep himself fit I'm sure he'll be their captain in the future.

Best move for all parties if he leaves first day of the window.
You have posted literally nothing of substance to flame about.  Your "points", and I dread to call them that, were superficial and completely arbitrary.  Nothing you said could be argued against because nothing you said elaborated a position of any kind.

Ha, you've got a point there mate. I'm not the greatest fan of him either. But I'm quite sure that he doesn't want to jeopardize his national captaincy. I don't know, I don't see him improving, so he might just as well be going this summer.

There is a certain degree of scapegoating with Hodgson signings, understandably so considering the bad times which some of these players have come to represent. Joe Cole for instance, is so strongly associated with Hodgson and Purslow that, in my opinion, people have turned on him without getting behind him when he's in a red shirt.

However, surrounding Poulsen, there can be little argument in favor of him staying at Anfield past the summer. Spearing is even preferred in front of him, infeasible considering we spunked 4.5million on him. A fine account of himself Jay is making aswell.

For all parties I think its best if he just moves on. Like every transfer I desperately wanted him to make it here and some of the personal abuse on these boards is pretty offensive. He has done nothing but give his all, simply wasn't good enough. And news flash to some of the WUMS, that happens, its not like he was trying to undermine the club. Same with Cole, same with Jovanovic, not every transfer can be Suarez or Meireles.

Very little is uncertain about it.
He was somewhat better in Kennys Liverpool but not nearly enough so to warrant another year.
Spearing takes his place, rightly so, Poulsen moves to wherever and all is forgiven and forgotten.
Wasnt his fault we had morons handling clubs business this past summer.
